Rationale and Purpose Catering for diversity
The purpose of this lesson is to reinforce students
understanding and use of the predicting comprehension skill
when reading and viewing clips.






Students will be working in a whole class context, group contexts and
working individually on worksheets. This will cater for students various
social learning needs and maintain student engagement throughout
the lesson.

Introduction: (2 minutes) learning goals
5 minute vocab and activate prior knowledge
What is prediction? If I were to turn the lights off right now, what might we be
doing in this lesson? *use paddle-pops
10 minute mini-lesson character crystal ball
If I were to make a prediction about a character, and that character was me, I
might predict that in 5 minutes time I will be standing in this classroom
teaching grade 4 about prediction. I could predict that in 1 week I will be here
with grade 4. I could predict that 2 years from now I could be looking for a job
and sitting in interviews at schools.
Model these predictions on a timeline on the board.

Lesson Procedure:
5 minute watch clip

Students make predictions in their buddy groups for what Waruwi might do in
the next 5 minutes.

Continue predictions for 1 day, 1 week, 2 years, 10 years.

In buddy groups students present their predictions to the class
5 minute close - Have a class discussion what are some of the
