Catalog Course Description This course is designed to be a study of the structure and function of the body and its relationship to health and disease. This course covers the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems.
Measurable Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identify and describe the components of the human cardiovascular system. 2. Explain how the cardiovascular system functions and predict outcomes of deviations from homeostasis. 3. Identify lymphatic system components and explain how the immune system protects the body. 4. Identify the parts of the digestive system and their contributions to the digestive process. 5. Comprehend the physiology of the digestive system and predict the outcome of deviations from homeostasis. 6. Explain the bodys energy process and how various metabolic processes occur. 7. Identify the parts of the urinary system and their contributions to maintaining fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balance. 8. Comprehend the physiology of the digestive system and predict the outcomes of deviations from homeostasis. 9. Identify the parts of the reproductive system and explain the role each plays in the reproductive process.
Each of the above student learning outcomes must be performed at an appropriate level as stated in each course assignment requirements, grading scale or rubric.
Subject Matter See above.
