ZOOL 2023 Anatomy and Physiology 2

Catalog Course Description This course is designed to be a study of the structure and
function of the body and its relationship to health and disease. This course covers the
cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems.

Measurable Student Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course,
students will be able to:

1. Identify and describe the components of the human cardiovascular system.
2. Explain how the cardiovascular system functions and predict outcomes of deviations
from homeostasis.
3. Identify lymphatic system components and explain how the immune system
protects the body.
4. Identify the parts of the digestive system and their contributions to the digestive
process.
5. Comprehend the physiology of the digestive system and predict the outcome of
deviations from homeostasis.
6. Explain the bodys energy process and how various metabolic processes occur.
7. Identify the parts of the urinary system and their contributions to maintaining fluid,
electrolyte, and acid-base balance.
8. Comprehend the physiology of the digestive system and predict the outcomes of
deviations from homeostasis.
9. Identify the parts of the reproductive system and explain the role each plays in the
reproductive process.

Each of the above student learning outcomes must be performed at an appropriate level
as stated in each course assignment requirements, grading scale or rubric.

Major Course Assignments and Examinations You will have four lecture exams (100
points each) and they will be composed of multiple choice questions. NO MAKE-UP
EXAMS WILL BE GIVEN. Should you miss an exam, the score on your next exam will be
doubled. YOU MAY NOT MISS THE FINAL. NO EXAMS WILL BE DROPPED. Grades will be
calculated by adding all points and dividing by four (A=100-90, B=89-80, C=79-70, D=69-
60, F=<60).

Readings Students should read chapters coordinated with syllabus.
