COURSE DESCRIPTION
Teaches basis skills of Microsoft Office 2010. You will learn the basic
features and functions of Word and Excel. You will also learn about
computer concepts, the Windows 7 operating system and Internet skills.

Class Meetings
We will have class meetings beginning Friday August 18. The class meets
from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM.

By the end of this course you will be able to:
Identify the basic parts of a computer system
Use a flashdrive
Create flyers
Surf the net
Use email

Electronic Devices in Class
Cellular phones, pagers, CD players, radios, and similar devices are
prohibited in the classroom and laboratory facilities.
Ground Rules
2-minute rule when you work at the computer, dont struggle with a
task or instruction that is not working for more than 2 minutes before
you ask for help.
NDQ Rule There are no dumb questions in our classroom. All
questions are welcome.
Interruptions are welcome Feel free to raise your hand to ask a
question at any time, this includes lecture presentations.
Dropping the Course
It is the students responsibility to drop a course. The instructor is not
required, nor should be expected, to drop a student from the official roster.
A students failure to come to class will not automatically result in the
student being dropped from the course. This semester, the final drop date
is February 3 to get a refund.
Withdrawing from the Course
UNM-Taos new policy is to discourage instructors from giving WPs and WFs
(withdrawal Passing/Failing grades). Instead, students who do not drop the
course are to be given the grades they earned in the course of the semester
at the end of the semester.

In accordance with UNM Policy 2310 and the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA), academic adjustments may be made for students with disabilities.
Accessibility Services, at the Center for Academic Success and
Achievement (CASA), coordinates accommodations and services. If you have
a disability for which you may request academic adjustments and have not
registered with their office, please do so as soon as possible. Also meet with
me privately to discuss your specific accommodations needs and how they
relate to course expectations and assignments. CASA is located on the

Academic Integrity:

Academic dishonesty includes, but is not limited to, cheating or copying,
plagiarism (claiming credit for the works or works of another from any type

Expectation:
You are expected to read each assigned Lesson prior to the lecture.
Lectures will be short, to the point, and will discuss the highlights of the
Project for the week. Most of the class time will be spent working on your
Laboratory assignments.
Snow Day Policy
If there is a two hour delay, class starts at 10am for 1.5 hour class time.
You can go to www.kobtv.com for school delays. Also, UNM will follow the
Taos Public Schools delays or closings.
