Participation
Students will be graded through the simulation, participation in discussion forums and the final reflection. You are
also asked to give a brief introduction of yourself on the Weebly site. You will be graded on this because it is a
great way to get to know your peers who are also taking the class and for them to get to know you. It is important
to know your peers and instructor to help you feel more comfortable when conversing with them, posting
discussions, or reading peer responses.

Introduction
For this section of the course you are required to create a post introducing yourself to your peers. This is to help
you get to know each other so discussions will be more comfortable and relaxed. More information on this topic
can be found in the About Me tab on Weebly.
Simulation
Students will have the opportunity to participate in a computer Simulation. This simulation can be done
individually or in groups of two. The group who finishes first overall in this competition will be crowned SIM
Champion and have an opportunity to go out with me for lunch here on campus before the end of the semester.
If you are in a group you can exchange emails, phone numbers skype addresses or any other form of
communication medium that will help you come together. If meeting up is a possibility then that would work fine
as well. Each group member is required to have their own (separate and different) weekly Weebly discussions and
their own final reflection. If you are having an issue with a group member and have tried to work things out, you
may contact me and we can find a solution. Students are awarded marks at the end of each SIM period, thus there
are 8 mark periods, one for each decision period (each decision period will be worth 4.375%). Each simulation
period has a closing time set (see calendar for details), if you miss this time it cannot be reopened and you will
receive a zero for that period.

Manage the venture by managing finances

FlipGrid Discussions
After each simulation is due you can go back and see your results. When you do this you need to post to 2-4
minutes of video to FlipGrid. This website includes the questions you will be responding to and you can see your
peers responses as well. Here you will talk about what you did during your simulation and why. There will also be
a set of questions for each simulation you are discussing. You are not limited to these questions, but each
discussion must include a minimum of the posted questions. You will be marked on your responses to the
questions (relevance, depth, and description) and what took place in your simulation (explanation). This is a good
opportunity for you to realize possible mistakes and talk about them. Late submissions will be docked marks; if an
issue arises you need to discuss this with me and we will find a solution if needed.
You can do the simulation individually or in pairs, but your FlipGrid discussions must be done individually. You will
be graded separately on this aspect and the Weebly Responses discussed below.
Weebly Responses
Each week you are required to complete the next portion of your simulation and respond on FlipGrid about what
happened in the previous period of the simulation. You are also required to post to a discussion form on Weebly
each week. Here you will respond to a peers (who you are responding to will be provided prior to each response)
FlipGrid post. Here you will be able to share your experience with your peer and try to offer them help in their
venture; you are acting somewhat like a mentor. This is your chance to display some knowledge you have gained
from the course so far. Late submissions will be docked marks; if an issue arises you need to discuss this with me
and we will find a solution if needed.
Final Reflection
For this assignment you have the opportunity to look back on what you have learned and reflect on it. You can do
this through a video, a paper, a BrainShark presentation or possibly another form as long as it is cleared with the
instructor beforehand. There will be a set minimum of questions/concepts that will need to be covered through
your chosen medium but you are not limited to them. If you worked as an individual or a pair for the simulation
you are to work on your own for this assignment as well. Requirements for this project are posted on the Weebly
site. Late submissions will be docked marks; if an issue arises you need to discuss this with me and we will find a
solution if needed.
