Part II: Reflection

CANDIDATE REFLECTIONS:
(Minimum of 3-4 sentences per question)

1. Briefly describe the field experience. What did you learn about technology facilitation and
leadership from completing this field experience?
This field experience involved me planning a lesson plan that utilizes three or more of the tools
that we have learned about during our ITEC 7430 course. For me, I decided to allow my students
to choose from one of three tools that we focused on during this course and use this tool to provide
a summary of a folktale that theyve read. This field experience was powerful for me as it
provided me with the opportunity to implement tools to support students in showcasing their
learning and providing appropriate support for students in using various tools. From this learning
experience, as a technology leader, I will be able provide educators with support in using various
tools to appropriately support their students.
2. How did this learning relate to the knowledge (what must you know), skills (what must you
be able to do) and dispositions (attitudes, beliefs, enthusiasm) required of a technology
facilitator or technology leader? (Refer to the standards you selected in Part I. Use the
language of the PSC standards in your answer and reflect on all 3knowledge, skills, and
dispositions.)
This field experience helped me to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential to
effectively integrate technology within my own teaching and collaboratively plan with others to
improve classroom instruction, learning, and assessment. The lesson plan and later the
implementation of the plan focused on key areas of best teaching practice and appropriate
implementation of technology to support learning. It focused on research based learner centered
instruction, differentiation, authentic learning, developing and supporting higher order thinking
skills, instructional design, and assessment which helped me to see them in theory but also in
practice as well. Furthermore, this field experience called for me to reflect over my own practice
and think about what could have been done differently. All of these elements will prove
beneficial to me as a technology leader as I will be able to locate examples of best practices with
integrating technology within various classrooms, provide opportunities for educators to reflect
effectively over best classroom practices when integrating technology, and also model effective
use of technology for other educators.
3. Describe how this field experience impacted school improvement, faculty development or
student learning at your school. How can the impact be assessed?
This field experience impacted student learning positively as it helped students to see how
technology can be used in a variety of ways to help them show their learning. Furthermore,
students were able to build their understanding of different technology tools and see the
connection between their learning and these tools. This impact can be assessed by student
feedback as the students were engaged throughout and were eager to complete similar activities in
the future.
