Alcohol

By Kelsey VanZomeren

The most recent estimate

of annual per capita
consumption of pure
alcohol for adults in the
united states is
approximately 2..3 gallons.
This level consumption
amounts to about threefourth of an ounce per day

My Uncle David
My Uncle David was a major alcoholic,
he drank whiskey every single day. In
December of 2010, my mom noticed
that he was turning a yellow color. She
kept telling him that he needed to go to
the doctors to get looked at. He told my
mom no, that he didnt want too. He
finally decided it was time to go to the
doctors, instead of going to the doctors
they toke him to the hospital, to the
emergency room, thats were it all
began. They did multiple test on him,
they found out that he had liver
problems. He had only 30% of liver
alive.. It would have been a matter of
days, weeks or months before he died.
He finally passed away in February due
to Cirrhosis of the liver. He drank a half
a gallon of whisky everyday for many
many years.

My Dad

The story behind this is very hard to talk

about. I never want to see this every
happen again. This was about 5 years
ago, when my parents were married. My
mom had gone to talk to a counselor
about what it would be like to be
divorced from my dad. My mom had
come home from the counselor, and she
had a paper in her purse. Well my dad had
decided to go threw the note and read it.
My dad at the time had about 5 beers. My
mom had decided to call the cops to have
him taken to the drunk tank cause my
mom was sick of the way he was acting.
The cops showed up to the house and
they told her that he could sleep it off.
Well as the cops walk out the door. My
mom and I were standing at the counter,
my dad had come out to the counter and
threatened my mom with a knife, right in
front of me. The cops came back and had
takin my dad in handcuffs out the door.
To this day, that image will always be in
my head.
