The Unique Bond Of Friendship
Stop!I forbid you! Yelled Uncle Vernon in panic. Aunt Petunia gave a gasp of horror.
'ah, go boil yer heads, both of yeh,' said Hagrid. 'Harry--yer a wizard (Rowling 50). The very
words that Harry potter heard from Hagrid introduced him to a unique and secret world. As
Harry potter struggles to adapt to a new world he meets two friends that will become his
bestfriends. In the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K Rowling the distinct
qualities that each character possesses allows them to form a unique bond which will help them
overcome many challenges.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K Rowling is a Unique story about a orphan
boy who finds out that he is a wizard. His new life begins the moment he gets accepted to
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He meets his two best friends Ron Weasley and
Hermione Granger at Hogwarts. Together they attend Hogwarts and they meet many people and
they meet Professor Quirrell who will later be connect with Voldemort a very evil wizard. Who is
trying to find the Sorcerer's stone to escape death and harry and his friends race to find the stone
before Voldemort finds it.
The unique bond that Harry, Hermione, and Ron have is very important because what one
character lacks in the other one fill it in. They work as a team each one taking turns being leader
when its most beneficial for them. Each one being great in something for example Harry brings
bravery to the bond . As they jostled their way through a crowd of confused Hufflepuffs, Harry
suddenly grabbed Ron's arm. ' Ive just thought-Hermione' 'what about her?' 'she doesnt know
about the troll' Ron bit[s] lip. 'oh, all right,' he snapped. 'but Percy'd better not see us'. (Rowling

175) Harry encourages Ron to go out looking for Hermione because she doesnt know that the
troll is out. Harry doesnt want anything to happen to Hermione. That is a example where Harry
expresses his love for his friends
Another example can be seen when Harry takes charge and plays the flute to keep the
three headed dog asleep. He put Hagrid's flute to his lips and blew. It wasnt really a tune ,but
from the first note the beast's eyes began to droop. Harry hardly drewa breath. Slowly, the dog's
growls ceased- it tottered on its paws and fell to its knees, then slumped to the ground, fast
asleep(Rowling 275).While Harry was playing the flute Ron and Hermione were looking down
the trap door trying to figure out who was going first, But Harry being the brave one takes it up
to him self to go down the trap door first. Harry lowered himself through the hole until he was
hanging on by his fingertips. Then he looked up to Ron and said 'If anything happens to me ,
don''t follow. Go straight to the owlery and send hedwig to Dumbledore, alright?' 'Alright,' said
Ron. Harry is displaying bravery and his strong love for his friends as he risks his own life. He
doesnt want to put the lives of his friends in danger because of him, But even in the face of
danger he tells Ron in case of anything happening to him to get his owl to call Dumbledore.
When Harry rushes into the Girls restroom to rescue Hermione he comes up with a plan
to save her along side Ron is helping harry to fight off the troll together they fight against the
troll. 'confuse it!' Harry said desperately to Ron, and, seizing a tap, he threw it as hard as he
could against the wall(Rowling 173) When Harry and Ron work together they can over come
anything as Harry is trying to save Hermione Harry e tells Ron to confuse it meaning that Harry
depends on Ron as much as Ron depends on Harry. Ron works more like a sidekick to Harry,
they both are capable of saving the day, but Harry mainly saves the day and Ron just helps him
any way possible, But sometimes Ron does the saving.

Ronald Weasley is a First year at Hogwarts when he first arrives at Hogwarts his first
friend is Harry. Ron is a shy and unpretentious he comes from a poor family. He lives in His
bothers shadow meaning his brothers are very popular and they are all successful. Ron becomes
the leader as they go through a door that leads them to a giant chess game. Since he is the most
experienced coming from a wizardry family he takes the role of the person who tells Harry and
Hermione what to do. Harry and Hermione stayed quiet, watching Ron think. Finally he said
'now dont be offended or anything, but neither of you are good at chess' 'we're not offended' said
Harry quickly. 'Just tell us what to do'(Rowling 177). When Harry and Hermione didnt know
what to do they looked up to Ron and Ron took control and told them what to do. Even at the
hardest times Ron displaced respect for his friends.
Ron becomes Harry's first friend at Hogwarts and even for the first time in Harry's life.
From the time that Ron met Harry on the train to the end of the book. Ron really displaces his
loyalty for Harry. Oh come off it, you dont think we'd let you go alone(Rowling 271)Ron
really showed his love for Harry when Harry was going to find the Sorcerer's Stone by him self.
Ron and Hermione went with him and Ron was the one to tell him that he wasnt going to let
him do all the work by him self. Ron and Harry both lack the very intelligences that they need to
think quickly on their feet.
Hermione Granger is very smart she focuses extremely on following the rules and reading
books to be ahead of the classes. She is a perfectionist and believes that she is right in
everything. Hermione often saves Ron and Harry from trouble for example Hermione helps
Harry go through the Black fire. Hermione read the paper several times. Then she walked up
and down the lines of bottles, Muttering to her self and pointing at them. At last she clapped her
hands 'Got it,' she said. 'The smallest bottle will get us through the black fire-toward the

stone'(Rowling 286). Through the next door to reach Voldemort Harry and Hermione encounter
a room that challenges them in logic because A lot of the greatest wizards [don't have] an ounce
of logic(Rowling 285). Hermione being the brilliant one takes the role of the leader here as she
is the one who solves the puzzle in the room and gives Harry the right potion that gets him to
advance to the final room to meet Voldemort.
Another way Hermione became the leader and saved Ron and Harry was when she
taught quickly on her feet. Hermione was the First to let lose when a plant called the Devil Snare
captured Ron,Harry, and Hermione because Hermione paid attention in Herbology. 'Devil's
Snare, Devil's Snare...what did Professor Sprout say? It likes the dark and the damp-' 'So light a
fire!(Rowling 278). After Hermione figure out that she had to make some sort of light she
quickly found a way to make light and to save her friends Oh, right! Said Hermione , and she
whipped out her wand, waved it, muttered something and sent a jet of the same bluebell flames
she had used on Snape at the plant, In a matter of seconds, the two boys felt it loosening its grip
as it cringed away from the light and warmth.(Rowling 278). Hermione really saved her friends
from the Devil's Snare because she was able to think under pressure.
In the novel Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K Rowling the distinct qualities
that each character possesses allows them to form a unique bond which will help them overcome
many challenges. Harry, Ron, and Hermione each play a critical part in the relationship and
eternal bond that they possesses, Because what one character lacks the other one makes up for it
which helps them in the time in need. Each and everyone of them plays the role of the hero or the
leader. They trust each other enough that they are willing to risk their own lifes to save or
protect one and another. That is why Harry, Ron, and Hermione are best friends and make a
great team. They each are unique in their own ways because each of them are great at something

which brings a advantage to the group when it come to saving the day. The novel Harry Potter
and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K Rowling is just one of the adventures that Harry, Ron, and
Hermione goes on. As they go on the adventures become more difficult and more challenging
which will require each of them to becoming even more stronger. Ultimately they find out that
the love for one and another is far more stronger then any magic in the world.
