Scrooges Christmas Spirit and the

Three Spirits
The Ghost of Christmas Past was a mix of both old and young,
with summer flowers and winter holly. This spirit showed Scrooge his
own Christmas a long time before, when he was an apprentice to Mr.
Fezziwig. This ghost wanted to show Scrooge how Mr. Fezziwig did not
need much money to hold a party for bringing happiness to people.
Scrooge saw Mr. Fezziwig asking his apprentices to clean up the
workplace, and letting people in to dance, eat, and be merry. One
lesson this taught Scrooge is that money is not important, while being
joyful and helping out mankind is very important. It made Scrooge
wish to treat his employee, Bob Cratchit, better, and with more
cheerfulness and kindness. Scrooge also remembers how joyful his
Christmases used to be.
The Ghost of Christmas Present was a jolly man who was
gigantic, sitting atop a mountain of splendid foods! This spirit showed
Scrooge other families he knew having fun at Christmas, even though
they were poor, like the Cratchits. Bob Cratchit and his family were
grateful for the food they had, even though it was not a lot. The
Cratchits valued family, hope, and love more than money and business
like Scrooge valued. The ghost of Christmas Present also showed
Scrooge his nephews house, where they were laughing and making
fun of Scrooge. His nephew said that Scrooge was only hurting himself
by being uncharitable and cruel. What he said was true, and the Ghost
of Christmas Present wanted Scrooge to realize it and start his mission
of being kinder to people. Scrooge learned that people dont have to
have money to live happily, and that people need to be grateful for
what they do have. One change noticed in Scrooge during the Ghost
of Christmas Presents visit was when he heard that Tiny Tim might not
live; he felt sorrow and sympathy, and wanted to change Tiny Tims
future.
The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come was misty and in a robe of
black, with only his bony hands showing. This spirit showed Scrooge a
group of businessmen making fun of Scrooges own death and funeral.
He was shown the grieving family of Tiny Tim, and he was also shown
his own grave, with Ebenezer Scrooge inscribed on it. The spirits
lesson was that Scrooge should not value business, but kindness and
empathy for other people. He realized that he didnt want to die
without helping and caring for other people, and that he didnt have
much time to fulfill that mission because he was old. Scrooge told the

spirit that his actions would be done with the spirits lessons in mind
and a Christmas-spirited heart.
Scrooges conflict of value for money or care for others was
resolved because his partner, Marley, saved him and had the three
ghosts teach him a lesson. Each ghost added to his understanding of
how he should treat other people with a warm heart and kind attitude.
These lessons are important even for people today because people are
meant to help each other, not profit off each others misery or money.
People should reevaluate priorities in their lives, and put love and
other people first on the list.
