Eminems Curtain call Digipak Analysis

This album is quite interesting in terms of the representation of rap

genre in general as it shows characteristics of the typical
representation and it doesnt.
For example, the front cover shows positive
features, such as bright light, roses and also
bright colors. This would represent the positive
side of the artist. The typical representation of
rap genre would involve dark themes, violence,
crime and excessive swearing. Obviously the
front cover of the digipak doesnt exhibit these
characteristics.
However, when we look at the inside of the digipak (the picture
below) we see some of these characteristics of the rap genre in it. .
The color we can mostly see is black, which usually signifies mystery,
fear and danger, which feeds directly into the representation. The
fact that he has a gun in his hand and that there is also a picture of
him in what seems to be in a police interrogation room shows that he
has bad qualities and that he could possibly violent.
This whole digipak shows a contradiction in themes, which would
possibly imply, judging by the song, that artist is confused about him.
