By the numbers: How much

funding does PCCD bring to
perry county?

Show me the money! Its a popular phrase

and highlights a question often asked of local
organizations. Its also a question we at the
Perry County Conservation District are happy
to answer.
We contribute funds to the community with
programs such as our quarterly Beaver Bounty
Day, our Annual Dave Ferguson Scholarship
and our Annual Poster contest. We also help
provide many technical and engineering
services free of charge to local landowners. In
addition, PCCD has been directly responsible
for bringing millions of federal dollars to
Perry County and its landowners.

PCCDs Annual
Poster contest

Tree Edition

Trees help us breathe! An adult tree

can absorb 50 lbs of carbon dioxide &
produce almost 6,000 lbs of oxygen a year!

Trees can communicate. A tree infested with

insects will produce chemicals to reduce the
nutritional value of its leaves and warn nearby
trees, causing them to do the same.
Trees save money! A house with tree cover can
Conserve Air conditioning and heating use by
20-30%.
Trees can heal us! Aspirin was developed from
willow bark, quinine from the cinchona tree &
several anti-cancer drugs are derived from the
yew tree.
