For this assignment I want you to research examples of a style of
illustration or a particular artist. Use the Internet to obtain a
minimum of three examples of the style or artist you are interested
in. Print these samples and place in your sketchbook.
Next I want you to make notes in your sketchbook concerning the
artwork. Specifically I want you to address the following questions:
1. What is the nature of this work? Is it contemporary drawing,
painting, cartooning, political cartoon, collage etc.
2. What is it that distinguishes this work, what makes it unique?
3. What is it about the work that you like?
Follow the link to Student Art Guide to see examples of the type of
annotations I am looking for. This assignment will require more
thought and reflection than our usual sketchbook assignments but I
am confident that you will all do a great job.
