Salvation Army, located at 24140 Mound Road (between Nine Mile and Ten
Mile Road, on the east side of Mound) in Warren, MATTS (Macombs
Answer to Temporary Shelter) provides 30 days shelter (per year) for up to
50 persons. Residents must be out during the day looking for work and
attending appointments. An alcohol test is required nightly. Counselors
assist residents plan for permanent housing.

Intakes are taken 7 days a week from 8AM to 10 PM at 20415 Erin,

Roseville, (behind Sams Club at Gratiot & 13). Male & Female Ages 18 &
over. Must pass breathalyzer nightly and random drug tests after 5 days.
The Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST) is a
group of participating congregations that open up their facilities to the
homeless, one week per year at each location, so that the entire year is
covered. Some weeks shelter is provided at two churches so that
capacity of about 60 persons is maintained. Volunteers and staff provide
transportation, meals, and assist the homeless to plan for and seek
permanent solutions to their situation. Shelter stay is limited to 90 days
(per year) and every person is included in the CAP, Choose A Path
program. These persons receive intensive case management, counseling,
and advocacy services. MCREST is a cooling station in the summer and a
warming center in the winter, and assists with Prescription co-pays and
Housing Assistance. New programs JOURNEY HOME for families and
OPEN DOOR for adults provide funding and supportive services to end or
prevent homelessness. The programs are jointly administered by
MCREST and the Macomb Homeless Coalition Contact either agency to
apply for these programs..

Domestic Violence Shelterprovides 24 hour crisis line, 24 hour

emergency shelter (up to 30 days maximum stay for women & children),
domestic and sexual violence counseling, hospital and court advocacy,
case management services, childrens program, community
education/prevention, Second Hand Rose Resale Shop, support groups,
Families First Program, Forensic Nurse Examiner Program, & Personal
Protection Order Assistance. Macomb county residents are served first
ID is required.
The Warming Center is in operation rotating weekly at several churches
from November to March. Provided are two blankets, a pillow, and space
on the floor, along with a soup supper and breakfast. The hours are
usually 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The only condition for admission is good
behavior. Volunteers are welcome, however they are asked to call first to

Adolescent Shelter and Counseling CenterServices include 14 day safe
shelter for youth 10-17 with family and individual therapy & daily group
counseling leading to the return home of the youth upon discharge, or a

VETERANS COMMUNITY RESOURCE AND REFERRAL CENTER is part of

a nationwide project of the Dept of Veterans Affairs (VA) to identify and
provide immediate assistance and to homeless Veterans, as well as
homeless prevention services. Other services include Case Management,
Substance Abuse Treatment, Community Referrals, Housing Placement,
Triage Services, Transportation to Appointments, and Direct Services

house in Sterling Heights with room for six, and they also attempt to make
placements with individuals and couples in the community. Their email is

disorders, unable to function independently, or with a history of substance
abuse in the past year, or has other children who reside with her. A typical
placement would be someone who was forced to leave her family home, and
has been living from friend to friend. The women accepted in the program
must apply with DHS and cooperate with Work First. Services provided
include a home, meals, material assistance, childbirth and infant care
support and education, various educational and vocational assistance,

Offers residence to homeless women with or without children (not pregnant,

at least age 23) who pursue a 6 to 14 month program to help with spiritual
growth, housing stability, educational advancement, economic
independence, parenting/life skills, and self-actualization. The goal is to
become independent, self-sufficient members of the community.
For women 18-25 with children, can accommodate 5 familiesrent is $250
per monthwill help residents pursue education, day care, & job skills
The tenant based rental assistance provides housing and support services
to homeless youth between the ages of 18 and 23. Applicants must meet the
MSDHA definition of homeless youth which is similar to the HUD definition
except it also includes youth who are doubled up and couch surfing.
Clients income must also be at or below 20% AMI. When applications are
received they are prioritized based on need, not first come first serve, and
clients on the streets and in shelters are given priority. Once approved
clients will be given a voucher that works like any other housing voucher.
They can find housing anywhere in Macomb county within certain price
ranges dependent on household size. Clients pay 30% of their monthly
income directly to the Landlord in rent while FYI covers the rest. After a
year in the program clients are reassessed to determine need and if they
qualify can use the housing subsidy for an additional year. The program
has a two year max.
The MORE House accepts placement from DOC (Dept of Corrections) as
part of the MPRI (Michigan Prisoner Reentry Initiative). It is a 30 to 90 day
Transitional Housing 30 bed program for single adults designed to promote
personal growth in a structured environment. The goal is to prepare for
independent living. Individuals must be drug free, actively working or
seeking work or training, and motivated to attain skills necessary for
independent living. Counseling, employment assistance and educational
classes are available. The goal is for individuals to integrate back into the
community.
Is a house made available for one homeless family with children. One
requirement is that the family must have a job.
Located at 17955 E. Eleven Mile, Roseville 48066 (at Gratiot & I-696), Vets
Returning Home provides housing for up to 43 vets who are homeless or
threatened with homelessness. Other services offered are meals, job
placement, substance abuse counseling, case management, medical
screening, VA benefits guidance, legal help, academic opportunities, life

Gratiot, Clemens, 48036. Operated by Family Youth Interventions, The
Refuge provides a safe and appropriate setting in which youth can
congregate and utilize a spectrum of services including hygiene items, food,
crisis help, life coaching, case management, and a hundred other helps.
The goal is to build relationships between street outreach staff and street
youth, providing support services to help youth move to alternative living
situations and become independent, self-sufficient, contributing members of
society. Hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-9.
Provides a variety of services to the homeless of northern Macomb County
