DAILY LESSON CONCEPT (OBJECTIVE): Research and Inquiry


ESSENTIAL QUESTION: How do people meet personal challenges?
COS/CCRS OBJECTIVE(S): Gather relevant information from multiple print and digital sources; assess
the credibility of each source; and quote or paraphrase the data and conclusions of others while
avoiding plagiarism and providing basic bibliographic information for sources. W. 6.8 Determine the
central ideas or information of a primary or secondary source; provide an accurate summary of the
source distinct from prior knowledge or opinions RH.6.2 Analyze the relationship between the primary
and secondary source on the same topic RH.6.9 Interpret information presented in diverse media and
formats and explain how it contributes to a topic, text, or issue under study. SL 6.2
HIGHER ORDER THINKING SKILLS: Students will be able to cite textual evidence to identify context
clues within a passage.
KEY VOCABULARY: Research and inquiry
BEFORE: Begin Research Project
DURING: Research Skills: Choose a Research Focus/ Questions p. T331
Before beginning, students should choose an area or topic they want to focus on. They will do this
based on their group seating arrangements.
They should then develop a research plan.
AFTER: Complete Project #2, #3, #4. Begin working on it. - In the Computer Lab
