Trek: Into Darkness rehearsal

Introduction:
1. WARM UP/TUNE
2. Our goal for the week was to run m. 1-140 today. Are we
prepared to meet that goal?
3. If not, what can we do differently next time?

Procedure:
1. Write quarter note triplet on board (rhythm A)
a. Popsicle stick: How do we count this?
b. Everyone count out loud
2. Write quarter note triplet with half note (rhythm B)
a. Popsicle stick: How do we count this?
b. GROUP 1 count rhythm A, Group 1 count rhythm B
c. Switch groups
3. Raise your hand if you have rhythm A in measure 59. Rhythm B?
4. EVERYONE bop mm. 58-62, listen to how they line up, then play
as written
5. Run mm. 58-66
6. Go back to 47 and run to 78
a. Heather: play A in 48 then return to your part in 49
b. Review ostinato: is it a Megan or not?
c. Tpts still play at 51-52
7. If there is time time: Review 78-86
a. What do we do with these long notes? Count!
b. Breathe TOGETHER at end of m. 81 and 87
c. Bop section if entrances remain inaccurate
8. Run 47-86

Closure:

We only have two rehearsal days next week. At this point it is
critical that you are practicing at home on the days that we dont meet. The
only way to make progress and have a great musical experience is to put in
effort to retain what we do from week to week.

Homework:

Practice at home!
