Areas liable to explosion

Organic and metallic products which create powder and dust form can also, in certain conditions,
become an active agent of explosions. Any location where these products are made, stored,
and processed may be considered a potentially explosive atmosphere.

As defined by 2 of the ElexV, are areas in which a dangerous explosive atmosphere could
arise due to site and production-induced conditions. In order to judge the degree of protective
measures required, the areas liable to explosion are classified by the operator into zones
according to the probability of an explosive atmosphere arising.

Over more than a century SCHUCH has been considered

a specialist for solving problems with particular reference
to environmental conditions. This point particularly relates
to explosion-protected light fittings. Results coming from
SCHUCHs own research-and-development work serve
for continuously providing the market with new impulses.
SCHUCH has significantly influenced the development of
the explosion-protected light fittings for fluorescent tubes
which are on the market nowadays as well as of the relevant
standards.

WERMA complies with the requirements for installing

explosion-protected electrical components governed in the
ATEX Directive (94/9/EC). Specific construction regulations
are observed to prevent an electrical component from
becoming an ignition source. With various ignition protection
types, WERMA guarantees safe operation even in the event
of a malfunction.
