@ TERASAKI Earth Leakage Relay TZS-HD (High-sensitivity high-speed type) TZS-MD (High-sensitivity high-speeditime-delay type) Operating Instructions Thank you for purchasing the TERASAKI Earth Leakage Relay. Please read these Instructions carefully to ensure correct use of the product. Safety Notices Be sure to read these Instructions thoroughly to be familiarize yourself with the product handling, safety information, and all other precautions before mounting, using, servicing, or inspecting the product. In these Instructions, safety notices are divided into "Warning" and "Caution" according to the hazard vel © Warning : A warning notice with this symbol indicates that neglecting the suggested procedure or practice could be fatal or result in serious personal injury. A. Caution 1 A caution notice with this symbol indicates that neglecting the suggested procedure or practice could result in moderate or slight personal injury and/or property damage. Note that failing to observe caution notices could result in serious injury/damage in some situations. Because safety notices contain important information, be sure to read and observe them. @ Handling Precautions © Warning ‘* Never touch terminals, Otherwise, electric shock may result. 4 Caution * Be sure to connect the earth terminal of a load device to ground. * If the earth leakage relay operates, check load devices or circuits for proper insulation. Improper insulation may result in a fire or electric shock. * Check the relay for normal operation by pressing the test button once per month. (Before checking, confirm that relay operation causes no trouble in the facilities.) ™@ Installation Precautions (For detailed mounting dimensions, refer to the catalogue.) A Caution Installation work must be performed by competent persons. * Prior to commencing any work on the product, open an upstream circuit breaker or the like to isolate all sources of power/voltage. Otherwise, electric shock may result. . Prior to commencing connection work, make sure that the supply voltage conforms to the rated control voltage indicated on the nameplate on the front face of the product. Otherwise, malfunction or burn-out may result. * After proper terminal connection, check the relay for normal operation using the test button. If pressing the test button for 2 or 3 seconds does not cause the relay to operate, the relay is out of| order. Please contact your local agent or our branch office immediately. Other Precautions (1) Do not place the product in such an area that is subject to high temperature, high humidity, dusty air, corrosive gas, strong vibration and shock, or other unusual conditions, (2) Power capacity ‘Control power voltage (50/60 Ha) Permissible voltage range 00/120, 80. 132 Vac 100/200 Vac 200240, 160-264 Vac ISAO Vac. 320 484 Vac 1.VA or more (3) Apply the ZCT type Earth Leakage Monitor to the power line of 600 Vac (50/60 Hz) or less. Select the monitor whose serial number is the same as indicated on the earth leakage relay, and whose primary wire hole (transit part) is applicable to the primary wire size. (See the table below.) The length of these wires should be 3 m or less. Do not conduct the dielectric withstand voltage tests and insulation resistance tests between individual terminals. The withstand voltage between the terminal group and ground is 2000 Vac for one minute. When measuring the insulation resistance, use a 500 V megger. ™@ Outlines and Parts Designation Earth Leakage Relay Earth Leakage Monitor (2CT) ‘Output terminal Primary wire hole (ransit part) (Ex. Earth leakage monitor (ZC) Green LED (NORMAL) In normal state, the green operation indicator LED, "NORMAL", is lighting When the ZCT detects earth leakage, the green LED goes off and the red earth leakage indictor LED, "LEAKED", lights up. At the same time, a relay contact signal is outputted. This status is sustained until the black RESET button is pressed or control power is tuned off. If earth leakage continues, the relay is released while the RESET button is being pressed, but releasing the button causes the relay to operate again. The TEST button is furnished to check the earth leakage relay for proper operation. This button is inoperative unless the ZCT is connected. ™@ Selection of Sensitivity Current and Operating Time The TZS-MD type Earth Leakage Relay is provided with slide switches which can be used to select the rated sensitivity current and operating time within the ranges shown in Tables 1 and 2. Check the front nameplate and the slide switches for these settinas. How to change the settings: 1 Remove the transparent cover. The cover can be removed by putting the tip of a screwdriver in a cover notch and slightly pushing up the cover until the hook is released. Referring to Tables 1 and 2 or the front nameplate, set the slide switch positions according to desired rated sensitivity currentloperating time. Using a small screwdriver will facilitate you to move the switch knobs to the ON or OFF position. A Caution : Halfway position or improper setting of the switches will disable the relay to operate satisfactorily Be sure to set the switches according to the Tables 1 and 2.
