To calculate the Power without an indicator card:

The following data will be necessary for calculation:

Density at 15degc in g/cm3
Engine speed in rpm
Scavenge air temperature
Engine room temperature
Average fuel pump index P
Corrected fuel pump index P = P x K
(Where K = K1 x K2 x Density at 15deg c)
K1, K2 to be found from the graph 1 (next page)
K Correction factor for fuel pump index,
K1 Correction factor for fuel oil quality and other ambient conditions,
K2 Correction factor for fuel oil gravity at preheated conditions.
Now, with the help of graph 2, find the value of mean effective pressure corresponding to the corrected fuel pump index. The
obtained mean effective pressure is in bar. Convert it to MPa by dividing it by10.
Estimated Effective Power = k2 x n x pe
Where k2 cylinder constant, (specific to each engine type = 13.09 x D2 x S
D- cylinder bore, S Stroke length. Refer last page)
n Engine rpm,
pe mean effective pressure in MPa

The obtained power is the brake power in KW/Cylinder.
