MONDAY

Reading: Students will choose a piece from


the Norton Reader we have not read
together as a class, or a quality piece of nonfiction (that must be approved by the
instructor). They will read this work in
class, and then use it to generate a five
paragraph written analysis, in the
assessment style of their choice, following
the same guidelines as last week.
Learning Target: Students will improve their ability
to analyze works of non-fiction. They will show their
learning by completing two paragraphs of written
analysis.

Activity: As a class, we will report out on the


choice of assessment made and work completed in class.

As an exit ticket, students will complete two paragraphs


of written analysis, following the parameters established
last week in the independent reading unit. Five
paragraphs of written analysis (using a method of
assessment of the students choosing) will be due
Wednesday, Thursday or Friday (the last day we meet in
ordinary classes this week, depending on the PARCC
exam schedule). There will be no homework All work
will be completed in class.

to analyze works of non-fiction. They will show their
learning by completing two paragraphs of written
analysis.

Do Now: How are you feeling about the PARCC


exam? What can we do to make sure we are in a good
position to perform well on the exam? One example
would be getting a good nights sleep. What else can you
come up with?

WEDNESDAY

Wednesday Friday will be partially taken


up with PARCC exams, with periods 1 and 2
meeting for regular classes the afternoon of
Wednesday, periods 3 and 4 on Thursday,
and periods 5 and 6 on Friday. Each class
period will complete their written analysis
on the last day of regular class meetings (on
one of the aforementioned days) and turn in
the completed work.
