Differentiating Instruction through Technology

According to Rita Suh and Victoria Gerson, inserted technology in instruction is useful because it
provides students with both visual and oral incentive(2013. P.g1). The use of technology helps in
teaching with the ways the students speak and view learning. There are many different ways that
teachers use technology as a learning tools. Many schools are incorporating technology into their
classrooms. For example, in the school that I work for the students have access to I pad's. The
following different technology tools are, using interactive applications, the clickers instruction, and
informational tools and there are pros and cons to these technology tools.
First of all, interactive applications is a great tool to use when incorporating
technology because the students need to feel like the class is fun. Tenry Berry,
Yaritza Gonzales and others state that, teachers who want to include students in
learning technology will use collaborative studies(2012.P.g2). Allowing the
students to work together when using technology teaches them how to survive in
the real world. For instance, if they have to work with a co worker they will know
how to be considerate of others opinions. This is an important tool to use when
using technology because the teacher can learn and see who works well with
others and who does not. Another thing is that there are many programs that can
be used in a classroom as an interactive applications. For example, doing a group
project and having to do research on a topic and write about and lastly present it
to the class is an interactive application.
Secondly, the clickers technology is tool is a different way to teach because this
gets the students motivated to learn the material being used. According to Lora
Roush, and Liyan, Song, the questions are normally presented on the classroom

general panel within a power point display(Ribbons,2007). This is the tool that I
loved to see when I was in college because I learned a lot from looking at
questions on a power point and having class discussions. This type of tool
motivates the students to become more involved in the class. The use of a power
point presentation to show questions, or information makes it different from any
other technology tool. You can also use a smart board to put the words up there
and this is an example of the clickers technology tools. Incorporating this in a
classroom helps with keeping the students motivated with the topic.
In addition, the informational tools are very different when it comes to using
technology tools. For instance, using a video on the class topic instead of doing a
reading makes the class a little more involved with the topic. This type of tool
helps keep the students concentrated on the topic. According to Salah
Abdulrasool, and Mishra Rakesh, the findings show that computer technology
used as a teaching tool aids students attain learning results at all levels of
intellectual areas in all five modules(2009. P.g2). Videos, biographies, guidelines
for an assignment are tools that with technology they enhance instruction and it is
a different way of teaching.
The pros and cons of using different technology are that if the teacher does not use the right
material it would not be effective instruction. The good thing that comes from using technology is that
the students become more involved when you use different types of technology tools. According to
Aries Cobb, by diversified teaching is an instruction philosophy situated on the principle that teachers
should alter teaching to students differences(2010. P.g2). The teachers really need to be careful of the
types of technology tools they are using and if it appropriate for the age group.
In conclusion, this proves that there are many different technology tools that are used with

teaching in a classroom, Informational technology, clickers, and interactive applications are tools of
technology. There are pros and cons when using different types of technology tools when teaching.
Using an informational technology helps with guiding the students in the right direction with
instructions, videos, etc.. The interactive applications keeps the students focused on the subject. The
clickers technology tool helps the students stay motivated and learn from the lesson.
