Story Retelling Presentation

Description
You will be retelling a story to your classmates through a presentation. You are
going to pick a book of your choice; this can be a book that you read on your own, with your
family, or one that we have read in class. After you have read this book you are going to
think about how you would tell someone this story in your own words. Think about the
most important details of the story. What words would you use? Would you use pictures?
Before you begin on your presentation, you will first write down some of your thoughts
and ideas on paper. This will be your rough draft. Once your rough draft is complete, you
will have a conference with me so we can talk about your ideas. You will then be using
Microsoft PowerPoint to create your presentation. You will be presenting these to your
classmates. You will have a list of instructions so you wont forget what to do. You will also
have a rubric with all of the requirements listed. We will go over both of these as a class.

Instructions
1. Pick your book. Must get teacher approval.
2. Read your book. You may read it by yourself, to a friend, to a parent/guardian, or to
another family member.
3. Start your rough draft. Write your thoughts and ideas on paper. Start thinking about
how you would retell this story to someone else.
4. Have a conference with the teacher. We will talk about your ideas and make sure
you are on the right track.
5. Create your PowerPoint. We will have special computer time so everyone will plenty
of time to work on these. You may also work on this during your free time.
