Course Description
This course is based on the study of life with emphasis on scientific inquiry. The laboratory
component will provide a correlation between the content learned and scientific practices. The
scientific method will be emphasized to rationalize course work and laboratory findings
throughout the trimester. It is expected that students will express their understanding of complex
processes of biology by application.
Course Goals
You are expected to turn in your best work ON TIME and perform professionally in the
laboratory setting. The student will be able to successfully comply with outlined Indiana Science
Standards and student learning objectives, upon the completion of the term.
Ms. Carters Expectations
1. Leave the drama at the door!
2. Come to class prepared with your textbook, writing utensil, notebook, and folder/binder
EVERY DAY.
3. Be on time and ready to work when the bell rings.
4. Be a problem-solver.
5. Be productive and engaged.
6. Follow the uniform policy! Please do not wear hoodies, scarves, and non-collared shirts.
7. No electronic devices! This includes cell phones, tablets, headphones, and/or chargers.
8. Be respectful of the learning environment by using appropriate language and demeanor.
9. No eating or drinking in the science lab.
10. No pass policy during class.

Odds and Ends

1. Tardy policy: 3 tardies = 15 minute detention

2. You are responsible for your absent work. It is up to you to check the absent station and
make sure to turn in the missed work within the allotted time.
3. Late work is unacceptable. You must turn in all work ON TIME. I will give you one
homework pass that you may use on any given assignment of your choice. You must
complete the missing assignment and attach the homework pass to it within 2 days of the
due date.
4. You are responsible for renting a textbook that belongs to the school. When you sign out
a book, you MUST return the same textbook at the end of the trimester. If you fail to
return the book, you will receive a delinquent notice.
5. In my classroom, will treat you as a young adult as long as you behave as a young adult.
