Ivan III was the first ruler then, Vasily, Ivan IV (The Terrible), Michael Romanov,
Peter I(Peter the Great),
2. What does boyer, czar, and westernization mean?
A Boyer was a landowning noble.
A Czar was a ruler and the word meant Caesar.
Westernization was the changing of Russia to become more western.
3. How did Ivan the terrible deal with his enemies during his bad period?
Ivan used a secret police to murder all the people he thought as enemies or
traders.

Why did Peter the Great believe that Russia's future depended on having a
warm-water port?

He believed that with a warm water port Russia would become stronger as the
European nations were.
5. What were some of the ways Peter attempted to westernize Russia?
Peter changed the Boyers to people who would agree with him, he changed the
way nobles dressed, introduced potatoes, started Russias first newspaper, made
it so that women had to attend social gatherings, and advances education.

Who do you believe was more of an absolute monarch: Ivan IV or Peter the
Great? Explain with evidence to support your answer.

I believe that Ivan IV and Peter the Great where equal in the amount that they
were monarchs because both of them removed the people who got in there way.
Both of them are responsible for changing Russia.
7. Which class of Russian society probably did not benefit from Peter's reforms?
Why?
The extremist. Because everything they believed was changed and they were
the ones who had to work on St. Petersburg.
8. How might Peter's attempts at westernization have affected his people's
opinion of Christians in Europe?
Peters attempts at westernization may have affected the peoples opinion on
Christians in good or bad ways. The extremist in Russia would have looked at the
Christians as people who forced change on people. The others may have seen
that the Christians were not as bad as they were taught.
9. Which event in your reading do you believe had the most impact on modern
Russia? Why?

The death of Ivan IVs wife changed what Russia could have been who knows
what Russia would be like if Ivan stayed in his good years.
10.Write a one-paragraph expository essay explaining which of Peter's actions
reveal that he saw himself as the highest authority in Russia.
The point of witch that Peter had taken the land and built St. Petersburg was
when Peter had the highest authority because of the amount of people he was
able to get to build and take the city. This was an impressive feat that he had
accomplished. Peter was also able to force his people to move out of his capital
of Moscow into the new St. Petersburg.
