To Whom It May Concern:
I am very interested in applying for an early childhood, elementary, or special
education teaching position with your institution.
As of May 2015, I will be a graduate of Samford Universitys Orlean Bullard Beeson
School of Education and anticipate earning certifications in Early Childhood
Development, Special Education, Elementary Education and Collaborative
Education.
From a young age I have known that I wanted to work with children. I find so much
joy in watching a child learn and grow in the classroom. Working with elementary
children and impacting them at their most important stage of development, is
incredibly exciting and rewarding.
During my time at Samford University, I was able to experience many different
situations in my clinical placements which have prepared me for the full-time
classroom. I was able to observe classrooms in rural, urban and suburban settings
as well as many different grade levels. In addition, several of the schools receive
Title I funds, giving me experience with RTI as well as many different types of Math
and Reading Intervention. The wide variety of experiences has equipped me for
placement in any elementary grade general classroom. I anticipate receiving
certification in Special Education and had the opportunity to spend an entire
semester in clinical placements working alongside highly qualified special education
teachers. Along with observing and teaching in these schools, I participated in
action research projects, professional learning communities and attended IEP
meetings. I have received certification in ARI and AMSTI training, administered
many different assessments and learned how to make many different
modifications/adaptations for low and high incident disabilities.
All of the experiences Samford provided have shaped me to be an effective
classroom teacher. I feel my experiences both in and out of the classroom have
taught me flexibility, responsibility, effective communication as well as the ability to
work well with others. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work alongside
so many wonderful teachers but I am even more thankful for the relationships I

have formed with the students. Getting to know the students on a personal level
allowed me to celebrate their successes as well as work with them to overcome
their challenges. I truly believe all students deserve a quality education and I am
passionate about teaching.
I have attached my resume. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,

Hannah Illges
