Degree: 100% accuracy

independently and will receive a
grade for their completed light
to dark and color scale. This
grade will be based on their
progress and effort,
independently.

Materials/Resources:

2 pieces of thick, drawing paper (per student)

Pencils (2B, HB, 2H)
Oil pastels
White matt board
Exacto knife
Rubber cement

Prerequisites (Prior Knowledge):

Social: Students should be able to work quietly in a group setting. Students should
be able to focus and create their own independent piece of work.
Cognitive: Students should be able to understand that they need to develop two
separate scales using grayscale and color.
Physical: Students should be able to use all materials correctly and safely.
Emotional: Students should be able to work separately on their own work without

copying or getting offended by others.

Procedures:
Instructor will provide a demonstration on how to properly blend and work
graphite together to create a grayscale.
Students will be instructed to begin their grayscale and then return focus to
the instructor for the color demonstration.
Instructor will provide a demonstration on how to properly blend and work
together oil pastels to create a color scale starting from dark to light using
one color.
Students will be directed to finish their grayscale then move on to the color
light to dark scale.
Once students are finished, they will be instructed to cut out their scales
using the exacto knife.
Once the scales are cut out, students will paste them to the matt board for
presentation.
Accommodations:

For the students who miss the demonstration, the instructor will provide a mini
demonstration. For students who finish early, they will be encouraged to choose
another color to create a scale on to add to their finished work to turn in. This will
count as additional work that would enhance their final grade, not necessarily extra
credit. Students who may work slower than intended will be encouraged to work
promptly. If needed, an extension will be added if needed for slower working
students. For students who have a hard time paying attention or struggle with
participation, the instructor will suggest that students focus on their own work.
Excessive chatter or distractions will not be tolerated.
