Multigenre Research Project

For the next four weeks in class, you will be creating a multigenre research paper. This is
NOT a five-paragraph paper with an introduction, evidence, and conclusion. This is NOT
a paper on a topic that your teachers tell you to write about.
Rather, this is a project in which you get to choose your OWN topic, conduct research on
that topic, and then create a multigenre project that combines your talents to convey a
message to the reader. The multigenre project is one in which you write multiple pieces,
of different genres, that come together to form one product.
Requirements:

You must choose a topic that requires you to conduct research.

Your paper should consist of at least five different genres. You may choose to
write more pieces than that, but at least 5 genres should be represented.

Your project should have some kind of connector that ties it all together: a
repeated genre, a design, a repeated theme or topic, a continuous story, etc.

You will make your project on your own website you create, unless you are given
permission to do it in a different medium.

Your project should consist of:

o Introductory letter to reader: This serves as a guide to your readers.
This letter helps us understand the issue/topic youre addressing, offering us
insight about why you chose the genres you chose, etc. The intro is your
chance to help us understand why this topic is important, how we should
read your documents, etc.
o Table of Contents: This should be listed as its own page; or, if your website
has tabs for each genre document, you do not need to have a separate table
of contents.
o At least 5 genre pieces, with connector: You may have more than 5
documents/written pieces, but you should have at least 5 different genres on
your site.
o End Notes: The end notes are a short paragraph for each of your genre
pieces in which you explain how you came up with the idea for that piece,
what the piece means, and any other explanation you think is important.
o Works Cited page: On this page you will cite all of your sources you used
to create this project. I will teach you how to format this page. SAVE all of
your sources you use!!!

Evaluation:

This project will be assessed as a test grade using the rubric.

You will get to present your project to the class during our EOG Prep unit next
month.
