a. Based on my data of only adults, age does not seem to significantly affect
respiration rate. However, the data in the table of typical respiration rates that
was included in our assignment directions document contains data from various
age groups and demonstrates that age does indeed affect respiration rate. The
lower the age group, the higher the respiration rate.
b. I was not able to determine how gender affects respiration rate by using my
data because my data was obtained from only females. However, the data
table that was provided in our assignment description document, does mention
that women have higher respiratory rates than men.
c. Yes, my results matched the given values because they are within what the
typical respiration rate table listed as within typical/normal range.

c. Some factors that may be affecting how much an individual's respiration
rate changes when exercising are overall health, emotional state, and air
quality. In this case, Student E has a significantly greater increase in
respiratory rate after exercise because of the presence of a medical condition
that results in an increase in heart rate and respiratory rate upon standing and
during exercise.
5. In order to measure recovery rate, resting respiratory rate should be
recorded by the test subject and then the subject should exercise for a
proposed amount of time and record their respiratory rate immediately after
exercising. The individual should then begin a stopwatch and then measure
their respiratory rate every minute. Once the measurement matches the
resting respiratory rate, the stopwatch should be stopped and the time taken to
recover should be recorded. A line graph or area graph would be appropriate
for expressing recovery rate data.
