A huge part of a students time is spent in a classroom. Most of that students time is
spent with teachers. In a way, school is a home away from home for most. As a future teacher I
believe that it is my responsibility to teach students valuable information in which they will use
their entire life to make them a better scholar and a better citizen of tomorrow.
I believe that the purpose of education is to prepare students for the world. As I teacher it
would be my responsibility to teach the students who enter my classroom how to solve problems
that they come across. It is the students responsibility to be active listeners and learners to be
able to process the information taught. As a future elementary teacher it would be my
responsibility to guide students into becoming active listeners and learners.
I believe that students have to be taught to feed their curiosity. In order to do that I as a
teacher must teach core assignments and relate them to their interests. I follow William Bagleys
philosophy of essentialism. I believe that all of the students that come across my classroom
should acquire core knowledge and skills. The core skills that I will teach include reading,
mathematics, science and history. I also believe the STEM curriculum should be applied in my
classroom. As a teacher I will provide several projects relating to the subjects in STEM to raise
my students curiosity about those subjects. These projects will include hands on science projects
that will allow students to get involved and get motivated to want to learn more about these
subjects. Getting them interested will build their curiosity and will allow them to pursue further
knowledge on the subjects in the STEM curriculum. These subjects include science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics.
In my classroom everything will be organized to appeal the students. My classroom will
be set up in a way that both students and parents will be able to find things easily. Papers for
parents will be set up at their eye level and items that elementary students will need access tel

will be put at their eye level. Every day I will find a way to motivate my students to be better. I
will do this by telling stories that they can relate to or reading them a book that has a valuable
lesson included in it.
A student spends eight hours with their teacher five days out of the week. As a teacher I
am going to provide a classroom with an open door at all times. If students need help with
anything they can always come into my classroom for help. I will always be there to answer
questions for any student that walks through my door.
