Just because you hear it in the Media doesnt make him a Monster
When you hear about our President Barack Obama in the media, you hear about how he
is the worst president that are country has ever had. How he has done nothing substantial that a
country can look back on in future generations. But I say that our president has taken great
strides to unite our country like no other president before him. Not only by being the first black
president of the United States, which is an accomplishment in itself. But by also giving the
citizens of the United States the health care at an affordable cost. While also making life easier
for the lower income people of our country by increasing minimum wage .Not only this but he
also ended a war with Iraq that has been going on years before he ever became president. With
this essay I will try to prove to you that Barack Obama is not the monster who is ruined this
country that media claims him to be, when they purposely misinterprets his word when he is
giving a speech. But that Obama is actually one of the best presidents that our country has seen
in some time.
On multiple occasions Ive heard people saying, President Barack Obama is not a good
president, he doesn't even deserve to be the president, and if you ask me he only won his election
because of his race. Seeing that more than almost half of the United States population is colored,
why wouldn't they have voted for him? Im not saying that every person of color who voted for
him did it just because of his race, but Im willing to say a good majority of them did do just that.

Fletcher 2

How else would you explain the increase in voting for his election for presidency? Do you really
want a man who used it race to win an election running our country?
Ive heard people say things about this subject too many times to count, and I still think
its the most ridiculous theory that someone could say. I remember reading a blog published by a
pair of Massachusetts Institute of Technology political scientists in the Boston Review, which
they stated because of his particular appeal among black voters, because of the changing
political allegiances of Hispanics, and because he did not provoke a backlash among white
voters. I can understand how some people could come to that conclusion based to their
understanding of the situation, but the fact of the matter is the Obama won because of hard work
and dedication. Barack Obama had the forward think to campaign to all 50 states not just swing
states or states where he could make the most money, which is what was commonly done by
other campaigns. President Obama went every state and connected with the voters in a large
scale. But if you still don't believe that this is true just remember the past, when has becoming
the first anything in American history ever been an easy road to travel, is this really a person you
would consider a monster.
Someone who would save the lives of the people in this country is considered a hero to
me, which is what exactly what President Barack Obama did when he ended the war in Iraq. That
war had been going on years before he was elected to become president. In doing so he saved
American lives and the lives of innocent people in Iraq. Because of this we are building a new
foundation in which one day in the future will be able to call ourselves allies, like what Obama
said in his speech Iraq is not a perfect place, it has many challenges ahead. But were leaving
behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government that was

elected by its people. Were building a new partnership between our nations. And we are ending
a war not with a final battle, but with a final march toward home. Any person who cans save so
many lives should be considered a hero. Most people would have just fought our problems out
which is proven from American history, but Obama decided to take another route witch worked
for the better.
There are many ways that a person can be portrayed in the media as a monster. One that
really struck me was a political cartoon that I saw, where it show Obama in a doctor's outfit
working on an American patient with the worlds open wide in the caption, when the patient does
the president say no.. I meant your wallet and hes holding papers that say health reform. from
my opinion that political cartoon was trying to say is that all Obama health care is, is just another
way to take money from the American people . While saying they're getting the best of health
care, but its really just a big scam. But that political cartoon is wrong in every way. When
Obama first created the health care reform it was to help develop our country into a country
where anyone could health care and didn't have to worry about being denied because they didn't
have the money. Like with all the other chooses he made, it was in the service of his country.
Obama raised minimum wage to help the struggle that low income families have to deal
with every day. He raised the minimum wage from seven dollars and twenty-five cent to ten
dollars and ten cent. Some people like William Finnegan will argue that raising an existing
minimumwill always and inevitably damage the economy, kill jobs, doom American freedom,
and/or harm the very people that it is meant to help. But I know from personal experience what
its like for a family to live off minimum wage. I had to grow up watching my parent trying to
support my family, living off pay check to check. I had to learn not to ask for even the smallest

Fletcher 4

thing because you know that there wasn't money to buy it. Minimum wage is not enough money
for a family to live off. So even though some may think that raising minimum wage is too big of
a risk, as a person who actually had to live off minimum wage, would say that the reward far
outweighs the risk. So when President Obama issued an executive order to raising minimum
wage he did in knowing that there were families like mines all over the country struggling to get
by, not the actions of monster.
Another way the media has misrepresented President Obama is when people take a quote
from a speech he has made and turn it into something completely different than what was
actually stated like in 2008 when Obama was giving his speech on vaccination stance. I have
watched the video and I can understand if someone could have gotten it wrong if they had not do
the proper research, but it spiraled out of hand and what he actually said which was I am not for
selective vaccination, I believe that it will bring back deadly diseases, like polio to mean
Weve seen just a skyrocketing autism rate. Some people are suspicious that its connected to
the vaccines. This person included. the person who was reporting this thought when the president
said some people he was referring to himself in actuality he was to the person who had ask the
question. It is every easy for someone to damage a reputation, you see it happen every day
because of the media.
In conclusion I will say that the monster that the media has portrayed of President Barack
Obama is not only false, but the complete opposite of his true character. It is impossible for a
man that would go to so much trouble to see to the wellbeing of his country, could be a monster
who has ruined this country. Our president has changed the future of the generation to come after
him, by giving them a chance for health care so they live, and a raise in minimum wage so they

look forward in their lives. Not matter what the media would say about this, these are the action
of a person the very opposite of a monster.
