Time

Introduction & Motivation:

Each students will have access to about 4 - 6 hats

that the students can interact with.

Before the students touch any of the hats the teacher

will do some pre-teaching of rough/smooth, hard/soft.

Students will have the opportunity to play around

with one hat at a time to feel their texture (hard, soft,
smooth, rough).

Each texture will be paired up to allow for easier

understanding (Rough/Smooth, Hard/Soft)

During this play around students will be asked out of

two hats which one is soft, hard, smooth or rough.
The teacher will be filling out the assessment sheet
for this assessment.

Some of the hats will be red and green as these

colours are what the students have interacted
previously with and so will be a transition from the
colours into the textures

Differentiated learning
The entire lesson has been adjusted for the Active Learning classroom.
