Title of Unit: Theme: Nature coming alive/Growing and planting/Making healthy choices for self and the environment

Overview of Unit Topic/Theme: a) Provide an overall picture of the unit of study; and b) identify key unit concepts (2 -5).
This is a cross-curricular unit that focuses on science and language arts, but will have aspects of music and art as well. Science time blocks are four times a week,
and language arts time blocks are three times a week. The focus for language arts this practicum is journaling and compound words, which will be easily work
into the theme. Altogether this will amount to 34 lessons. We will explore what it means to be healthy, recycling, composting, and planting.
Rationale for Unit: Why are you teaching this unit and how is it relevant to the students at this point in time?
This is a springtime theme! Plants are growing, flowers are blooming, and animals are being born. Earth day is right in the middle of the unit, which is the perfect
opportunity to do some seed planting with their grade three buddies
