LESSON TITLE : PRESENT PERFECT TENSE-TOURISM
DURATION : 40 MIN.
TEXTBOOK : YES YOU CAN!
EQUIPMENT NEEDED : SMARTBOARD, WORKSHEETS
OBJECTIVES/GOALS :
1. At the end of the lesson, student will be able to create sentences
by using the form of present perfect tense.
2. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to identify the
differences between present perfect tense and past tense.
3. At the end of the lesson, students will be able to write a short
story about his/her journeys by using the present perfect tense.

PRE-LESSON (10 min.) :

The teacher comes to the class and greets the students. He
asks questions to the students about tourism by showing the
pictures on the book and tries to attract students attention. He also
adds questions to learn students background knowledge about the
tourism and journeys. When students are ready for the lesson, the
teacher starts the lesson by teaching words on the book (tie up,
scream, ankle, belt, edge, scared, instructor). After the teaching
words process is finished, the teacher attracts students attention to
the form of the present perfect tense and explains use of it in a

sentence. After then, the teacher wants students to say their

sentences by using the tense, again. In this way, he practices the
use of the tense.

WHILE LESSON (20 min.) :

When the pre-lesson process is finished, the teacher initiates a
reading activity. There is a passage on the book and the teacher
explains the activity: Now, youll read a passage and try to find a
title for it. The students read the passage and offer options for the
title. For the second reading, the teacher explains activity: Now,
youll read the passage for the second time. Firstly, youll read the
passage and match the photos to the paragraphs and youll work in
pairs to find Christinas feelings in text. The students begin to read
the passage again and when they finished all the activities, the
teacher asks for the questions and writes the correct answers to the
board.
After reading activity is finished, the teacher prepares a
worksheet by using Socrative application. The teacher creates a
room in an online platform and students attend. Then, the teacher
initiates an exercise and all students can see the same question at
the same time. They mark their answers and they get feedback
immediately from the application whether the answer is correct or
not. At the end of the exercise, the students can see their true and
false answers, and their scores on the board. This is the working
principle of Socrative application. When the exercise is finished, the
students see their true and false answers, and the teacher gives
explanations for students questions.
POST LESSON (10 min.) :
In the last part of the lesson, the teacher asks students to write
journey memories of them. While writing, the students need to use
the given forms to express their feelings. When students are
finished their writings, some of them come to the board and read
their writings. The teacher takes notes for their mistakes and
corrects them when theyve finished to read.
CLOSURE :

The teacher asks students:What we have learned, today? and

gives a short summary by using students responses.
CONTINGENCY PLAN :
If the original plan doesnt work, the teacher makes students speak
by asking questions about the topic and the lesson continues as a
speaking lesson.
