Get my group set up to read a book, then let them take turns reading it. I plan
on writing down all of the words they dont know how to read. Then at the
end, we will do a word study, and work on all of the words they couldnt read.
We will have them spell the words as I say them,
K 3, 4, 5, &6
1. Is the book fiction or nonfiction? How do you know?
2. Who wrote the words for the story?
3. Who drew the pictures?
4. How do you spell New?
The students will remember all of the parts of the story, then they will be able
to spell the most difficult words from the story.

Ask the kids wether they think the story is fiction or nonfiction based on the
cover photo while I cover up the title. Then they get to guess what the story is
about after they all read the title. Then, I will ask them who the author is, and
who the illustrator is. Then Ill ask them what they each do.
1. Read the story
2. Have everyone take turns reading a page.
3. Pass out whiteboards
4. Have everyone spell each vocab word one by one
5. Erase a letter while their eyes are shut and make them erase
6. Have all of the students rewrite the letter that I erase (the letter will be
different for each student)
All advanced students, so I will ask them more questions, and put in more
details than I would expect from some other groups.
Have each student spell one of the words out loud as a type of exit ticket.
Once they spell one correctly, they can go back to their seats.

exit ticket and go back to their seats. If they cant, well keep working on it.
I talked to Mrs. Everton and got her advice on what I should teach. I also
asked some other VTfT students and asked if they thought it was done well.
It went really well!!! They all did great, and they knew how to spell the
words they needed to at the end of the lesson.
