Below are the specific expectations for each level of connection highlighted in the first
page. While the expectations below are the minimum community development
requirements for RAs, staff are encouraged to complete additional initiatives for their
community. For some expectations, you will notice a set of brackets that denote
population specific expectations (e.g. [MAIA]) that may or may not apply to your
community. Opening and closing responsibilities do not count towards fulfilling the LLP
expectations. Additionally, RAs may not double dip to fulfill multiple expectations (e.g. A
program cannot be counted as both a floor program and a campus event).
Individual Connections Expectations
o RAs will engage in regular conversations with all residents of their floor.
o RAs will engage in at least one (1) meaningful conversation monthly with all
residents of their floor.
o [MAIA/JUMP/Hakkaido & Waseda Programs] RAs will engage in meaningful
conversations about the program specific experiences of students.
o RAs will utilize the Individual Interaction Questions to help guide these
conversations. Specific prompts that all RAs must cover are bolded.
o RAs will be responsible for logging 25% of these meaningful conversations in
ThinkTank each week.
Floor Connections Expectations
o RAs will conduct four (4) Floor Programs throughout the summer sessions, one
program per summer session. Summer Session I runs from 5/17-6/26; Summer Session
II runs from 7/6-8/14.
o These programs will be social in nature.
o [MAIA/JUMP/Hakkaido & Waseda Programs] RAs will work to ensure their
programming supplements the experiences for which these students have
enrolled.
o RAs will conduct three (4) Floor Meetings throughout the summer. These meetings
will correspond with the opening and closing of the halls for each summer session.
o RAs will complete three (3) sets of Bulletin Boards for May/June, July, and August.
o A set includes: 1 Bulletin Board originally created by RA with remaining boards
decorated and serving as posting boards
o Two of the originally created boards each semester must address one of the
following critical topics: Diversity/Social Justice, Alcohol & Other Drugs,
Connection/Engagement, or Wellness
o Boards are to be completed by the 1st of each month.
o RAs will enter their initiatives in ThinkTank at least one (1) week before they are set
to occur.
Cluster Connections Expectations
o RAs will plan, conduct, and bring residents to one (2) Cluster-Wide Programs
throughout the summer, one per session.
o No more than 1-2 RAs can work on a Cluster-Wide Program.
