After you have picked your memorable moment and developed your Narrative
Paragraph from 5.1 discussion activity, you can now work on your Narrative Essay
First Draft for this week's assignment.
Note- Sometimes it is easier to write the introduction after you developed your 3
body paragraphs. If you can think of an "attention getting" beginning sentence at
first, start working on your body paragraphs. An idea might come to mind while
writing your story.
Follow the steps below
Here is an outline of your paragraphs:
Opening/Introduction Paragraph
Paragraph 1 - Opening paragraph
The opening paragraph is the most important paragraph. This is
where you want to grab your readers' attention so that they want
to continue reading the your story. Your textbook give you three
ways you can capture your readers' attention: set the stage, jump
into the action, and focus on an interesting detail. Refer to page
139 for detailed instructions for creating an opening paragraph.
Remember, you are required to have at least 6 sentences in your
first paragraph of your essay.
Middle/body Paragraphs
The middle part of your essay is where you will include action,
description, and dialogue. It is important to include transition
words to help move your story along in a time order. Review page
135 before you start working on your middle paragraphs.
Paragraph 2 - body/middle paragraph ( 5 sentences)
First body paragraph should reveal the personalities of the
people in the story (Dialogue).
Paragraph 3 - body/middle paragraph (5 sentences)
Second body paragraph should describe the key moments
in the narrative story (Description). This would include vivid
details to describe people, places, and things.

Paragraph 4 - body/middle paragraph (5 sentences)

Third body paragraph should highlight the exciting
moments of the story (actions).
Closing/Conclusion Paragraph
Paragraph 5 - Closing paragraph (refer to page 141 for detailed
information)
A closing paragraph should have at least 5 sentences. Here are
some ideas of what to include in your closing paragraph:
Explain the outcomes of the narrative.
Try using a quotation from someone involved in the story.
Explain the events impact- how did it change your life or
the world around you?
Reveal a new understanding by explaining what you have learned
from the experience.
