Math 7 Syllabus 2015-2016

Mrs. Dominguez
Welcome to 7th Grade Math. Please review the information in this
syllabus as well as the Information and Expectations page where you
should initial each statement. Have your student return the
Information and Expectations paper. It is worth a free homework
pass if returned by Tuesday, August 12.
I am looking forward to a great year of learning with each one of you. I
understand that all students are entering my classroom with different
backgrounds in Mathematics. I will make every effort to help your child
be successful this year. But remember the primary responsibility lies
with your student. It is extremely important to your childs Math
Education and to their grade that they do their homework and class
openers on a daily basis. Be aware that a lack of homework is the
single most significant cause for failing any Math class. Homework in
this course will be assigned Monday through Thursday and
occasionally on Friday. Assignments are posted on my website:
dominguezzone.weebly.com. Students can arrange for extra help
by making an appointment with me before or after school, attending
lunch time help held on Wednesdays, or they may attend the after
school Oasis program.
Course Content Description:
This course will focus on six modules with these main topics: (1) ratios
and proportional relationships; (2) rational numbers; (3) expressions
and equations; (4) percent and proportional relationships; (5) statistics
and probability; and (6) geometry.
All materials for Math 7 will be provided in packet form for each of the
six modules. It is vital that your child has a binder to keep this packet
tidy.
Student participation in classroom activities is a must.
Students who choose not to participate will face disciplinary
action. In addition to learning note-taking skills, students develop
their math vocabulary and problem solving skills while covering the
state standards.
