COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course strengthens and expands reading and study skills using a variety of
teaching approaches and materials. It develops vocabulary, complex comprehension,
and study/reference skills.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Novel Assignments

dictionaries, notes, and electronic devices allowed
during quizzes.

3. There are no make-ups for missed quizzes, so the
instructor will not count the lowest two scores.
4. Instructor feedback will available to students two to
three days after the deadline.
Reading Department Final Exam:
1. Days/Dates: Monday and Wednesday, December 14
& 16, 2015.
2. Time and Location: during regular class times in our
classroom
3. Students need to bring a blue or a black pen and a
small blue book (available in the EVC bookstore).
4. There are no textbooks, dictionaries, notes, electronic
devices, and talking with others allowed during finals.

Attendance
The instructor will drop students who have unexcused absences when Fall 2015
begins on August 31, 2015. So, students must attend both face-to-face (f2f) class
sessions during Week 1 in order to remain enrolled in the class. The online part of this
hybrid class will begin during the third week of the term.

Dropping/Withdrawing
Students are responsible for dropping and/or for withdrawing from the class in a
timely manner & for following EVCs policies.

Electronic Devices
(This policy applies only during the f2f portion of the term.) Cell phones, tablets, and
other electronic devices need to be on silent or vibrate mode, and stored inside a
bag or a backpack. Those who must make an emergency phone call need to step
outside the classroom.

Student Conduct
Students are expected to be kind, respectful, & gracious to themselves & to the
entire EVC community. Students acting or behaving in ways that are unacceptable,
inappropriate, and/or disruptive to the class learning process will be disciplined
