CONSIDERATIONS

Orepass size and shape.

Wall condition: smooth or rough?
Orientation: vertical or inclined.
Material size, shape and particle distribution.
Operational mode.
Dump when full / empty.
Moisture condition.

HOW BIG OREPASS?

Depends on various considerations.
See the slide above.
Usually defined by D/d ratio.
D is pass dia, d is diameter of the largest particles.
For ratios up to D/d < 3, problems are likely.
For ratios of D/d > 5 , problems are unlikely.
Example: EL Teniente.
Largest rocks 1,5m; pass dia 3,5m, 1m x 1m grizzly.

DUMPS: BLOCK SCREENING

Scalper.
High maintenance costs (operator pushing through, broken
bars plugging the orepass).
Large slabs can get through.
Grizzlies.
Better retain big blocks.
Grid dimensions critical (bucket & muck size<<9.
Cone plugs.
Low maintenance costs.
Easy to plug up.
No structure (71/153).
Screens spread out material thus minimize impact forces .
