Reflection Connecting Outcomes,

Standards, and Artifacts
As the program Administrator it is
imperative that the SLMS
understands,develops, and enforces
policies and procedures for Media center
use. This artifact demonstrates my
ability to do those things because I
created the manual. The policies and
procedures are implemented and are
observed through administrative
observations.
In giving reviews of different resources
that students and teachers can use the
Reference sources evaluation allows me
to demonstrate my role as the
information specialist.
The program administrator must develop
rules and procedures for student use as
well as faculty use of the Media center.
The Media Handbook was developed by
the SLMS and the Media committee as a
way to make staff aware of philosophy,
goals, services offered, procedures, and
resources available to all staff.

Media Orientation

The teacher role of the SLMS is one of

the most important. The Media Center
orientation artifact allowed me to
demonstrate my ability to fulfil that role.
During Media Orientation I inform all
students of rules and procedures to be
followed by all students. The orientation
component also includes a lesson
component on locating books using
Destiny as well as the Dewey Decimal
system.

Media Website

The development of the Media Website

allows me to demonstrate my role as
leader and information specialist. When a
website is developed one must have the
knowledge and capabilities to navigate
and build the websites. This artifact
allowed me to demonstrate my role as
leader because it offers the opportunity
for others to view my capabilities and
efforts put forth to our Media program.

Professional
development plan
for AR

The professional development

component I created on Accelerated
Reader allowed me to demonstrate my
role as Instructional partner and Leader.
While teaching this professional
development unit I demonstrate my
ability to navigate, implement, and
instruct staff on using the Accelerated
Reading component. This plan teaches
the teachers how to appropriately use this
program to effectively use Accelerated
reader.

Classification
System Module
School wide
improvement plan

The module I developed on the

classification system allowed me to fulfil
the role of teacher and information
specialist. This module explains how the
dewey system was developed and set up.
When presenting this module to the
students I am demonstrating my role as
teacher as well as information specialist.
This module required me to have a
mastery skill of the Dewey Decimal
classification to be able to present it to
students.
The school wide improvement plan
required my professional input on how
our school can improve over the next
five years using technology, media, and
data gathered through Media use. This
allowed me to fulfill the role of leader by
providing data, budget support
documentation, technology use date, and
inventory data to be included in our plan.
