AP Seminar Script

[Sarthak]The population of the Earth has more than doubled in the past 30 years. I mean just
look at India!

[Jewl] Feminist: As Laura talks about human rights, a feminist lens argues for reproductive
rights, in which clashes with population control. This made me develop, is it a woman's right to
decide when and how many children she should have?
[Sarthak] Social: Socially, stronger womens rights allow for a more stable society. Making us
question Are contraceptives the answer to decreasing social woes?.

[Jana] Economic- My second source was written by Andrew Hodge and discussed the
efficiency of the MRA on analyzing population and the economy of any country. This source
from JSTOR passed the RAVEN test, but since it was just informative information about MRA,
it was useless and eliminated.
[Sarthak] Social- Source#1: My first source was an article by the international organization
Advocates for Youth which argued for increased contraceptives. Though the article had a slight
bias, the inclusion of counter-arguments and the overall RAVEN test proved the article to be
credible. The source proved the benefits of population control making it helpful.

[Sarthak]Source#2: The second source came from a scientific journal and spoke for the use of
contraceptives due to the increase in social satisfaction. The source was determined to pass the
RAVEN test, and allowed me to come to the perspective that increased contraceptives would
allow for a more stable society and would increase a countrys economy.

[Jana] From then on, as you can reference in the handout we gave you, we began rejecting the
perspectives and corresponding sources that contradict our argument.
[Sarthak]: If we were to continue this process, those perspectives would be used as
counterclaims to our argument. Our final thesis then became...
