Affective: TLW appropriately be quiet and listen to the video so the whole class can hear.

Psychomotor: After participating TLW, be able to analyze how germs spread.

ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION (TTW)
What method? Should match learning objectives:
Cognitive: TTW assess students on their ability to identify the proper hand washing techniques.

Affective: TTW assess students on the appropriate way to watch a video.

SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS (including physical, emotional and social enviorment):

Students will remain in their seats. Students will also be reminded to raise their hand to speak and when they
get bingo. Thus, students will not interrupt each other or the teacher. Students will also be respectful and quiet
during the short video so all students can hear.

MODIFICATIONS/ACCOMODATIONS:
Students will have a bingo sheet ready for them and a list of the definitions of the terms. This way students will
be able to reference to their definition sheet during bingo.

INTEGRATION: (Subject and description of how it relates)
Students will observe how germs spreads (science).

Sneeze with pom pomsWhere did the germs go?

Who can tell us what surface in the classroom has the most germs?
The desks

Look at the palm of your hand, can you see those germs?
No because as our definition said, they are microscopic. Although,
even if you cannot see the germ, it can still get inside of your body
and make you sick

Who can tell me what a germ is? Microscopic bacteria that causes
disease.

Teacher Cues
Introduce ourselves and
state the topic of
presentationgerms.

Desks have 400 times
more bacteria and germs
than an average toilet
seat.

100,000 bacteria can fit
into the size of a period
we put at the end of our
sentences. That is the
same amount of people
that can fit it Tiger

picture on the board

How do you spread germs?

The glitter represents germs we can not see. Lets say for example I -Nose, mouth, eyes to hand
-Hands to food
sneeze on my hand and do not wash my hands. Then I shake my
-Food to hands to food
friends hand. What do you think will happen to those germs?
-Infected child to hands to
As you can see they spread, and they can even spread without
other children
direct contact.
For example: I go to the bathroom and do not wash my hands. Then -Animals to people

I go to the playground and use a jumprope. Once I am done with
WALK AROUND
the jumprope my friend comes to borrow it. Now the germs I left
on the jumprope are now on my friends hands.

is very important to wash our hands.

By washing our hands we are preventing the spread of
communicable diseases. Break that up, what does commute
mean? To travel right? So communicable means a disease
that can travel from one person to another. SAY WORD WITH

In case of extra time: How bacteria divides

-The orange sheet of paper is the bacteria that has gotten into our body.
-Draw a white dot on your white sheet of paper
-When the bacteria enters the body it begins to divide and multiply at a rapid rate.
-Bacteria double every thirty minutes, so lets pretend that it has been thirty minutes.

-Tear your orange sheet of paper in half and draw two dots below your one dot.

-Tear both your orange sheets of paper in half and draw four dots below your two dots.

-Tear all your sheets of orange paper again in half and draw sixteen dots.
4

-How many bacteria would you have if the bacteria would continue to divide?
-5 hours, 1 bacteria will turn into 1,024 bacteria.
-Our immune system does the same thing, tear your white paper and put it over your bacteria.
