2. List and explain the processes that you could undertake to complete the
following tasks:
Identify resources utilised in order to complete your daily tasks.
In IT we use various metals that go into the computers we use e.g.
Aluminium, cobalt, lithium, magnesium, lead, gold etc. all these
resources are quite limited and rare metals, we can continue chucking
the computers away and not take the precious metals back out of
these computers, we will run out of these metals eventually, whether it
be the next 50 years or 200 or so years we will run out so we need to
take the time to recycle the resources used in computers

Record the details of current resource usage.

Identify and record details of environmental hazards within the

workplace.
Electrical points: there are many electrical points around the room to power all
the computers; you have to be careful of electrical shocks if using Power points
Lithium batteries: batteries are used to power various things; if batteries are
leaky you must not touch it and get someone who knows the safe procedure in
cleaning up this hazardous material.
Exposed wires & circuits in computers: you must have the computer plugged in
when fiddling with the wires; computers may also store some electricity in it so
you must be very careful when having to touch exposed or the sockets of the

3. What processes could you undertake to ensure that your workplace is

compliant with company sustainability policies?
Having a HPR (hazard perception report) is there for you recognize the hazards
and implement a safe procedure to deal with those hazards.

4. List and explain four activities that could be undertaken to identify and
source information in relation to potential environmental issues within your
workplace.
1. 1. Recognise what potential environmental issues are by going

around assessing any potential thing that poses a risk. A

document that has all the recorded risk that can be easily read
and updated.

2.you can hire an assessor that comes to you work place every 6
2.
months or so to go around the work place to check up on the existing
potential environmental issues and also recognise the new ones.

3. Annual meeting to get the employees involved in noticing these

3.
potential risks, they also might notice new ones or ones that dont
oppose a problem anymore.

4.The internet is also a great place to recognise potential risks

4.

5. Explain why the checking of invoices or other purchasing processes can

assist with sustainability and efficiency improvement processes within a
workplace.
Checking your invoice and purchase history gives you an idea of what you
have been buying, the quantities and quality of the product. You dont want to
be buying more products when you already have enough, also you might be
buying products that arent environmentally friendly, so you should find
products that are environmentally friendly.

6. List the person or persons responsible for the management of

environmental, sustainability or efficiency compliance and processes
within your workplace.
The manager or boss should be making sure that the work place is
complying with the environmental actions that your work place has
implemented; also its the employees responsibility to make sure they
are recycling, being sustainable and working efficient

7. List three environmental barriers that may exist within your workplace and
outline how these may be overcome by the implementation of consultative
processes.
1. 1. In our D&T and metal work class rooms, we have various

different things that help create a safe environment; we have

dust extractors and fume extractors to create clean air space
that is clean and fresh.

2.
2. The Air around the school can have pollution in it from traffic etc.

that produces waste released into the atmosphere, there can also be
chemicals in the air, UV that can fade and damage metal and plastics.
We have plenty of fresh trees and flowers around the school to help
make a place of cleanness and fresh air.

3. For a Pc, you dont want to have smoke in the air, because smoke
3.
damages a computer, Computers need to be in a well ventilated area,
were theres sufficient air flow, for old computers they can emit UV light
so you dont want to be exposed to that.

8. How can suggested improvements to sustainability practices be raised

within your workplace?
Regular meetings is the best way to discuss and suggest ideas and issues
within the workplace.

9. Explain the information points that you would access should further
information in regards to a particular sustainability or efficiency aspect be
required within your workplace.
Internet is your best bet; there are millions of different websites that
should explain all the questions you may have. If that doesnt help, well
then there should be people, whether it be a government person or some
environmentalist that might have access to information that you might not
of known about.

10. Explain the importance of setting effective environmental targets.

Setting effective environmental targets doesnt only help to ensure that
you are being environmentally friendly but also can make it easier to
follow environmental targets. Environmental targets help to keep
employees on track with being environmentally friendly; they should also
aim to follow these targets as best as possible to ensure maximum
effectiveness.

11. What tools can you implement to assist with the realisation of efficiency
targets?
Regular meetings that bring up the targets aimed, regular emails
reminding people to reach the environmental target, posters and signs
around the work place is probably the most effective way in assisting the
realisation of the efficiency targets.

12. Outline the processes you could undertake to ensure that continuous
improvement processes are in place within your workplace.
Record and keep track of the usage and the effectiveness of the target,
have meetings with the heads of different departments to make sure
they are encouraging and/or enforcing the target, but the most effective
way is to keep track, records etc.

within your workplace to ensure that environmental issues and
requirements are clearly understood and followed by all staff members.
1. 1. Regular meetings

2.
2. Emails sent out to staff members

3.
3. one on one talks with employees, or if your company has a
newsletter, just put a little article or message in there every week or
two

14. Explain why it may be necessary to revisit or reset sustainability targets

that have been set within a workplace.
Because there might be new environmental regulations that need to be
followed, also there might be an easier and more effective way to do
things etc.

15. Explain the steps that you would undertake should your investigations
identify that targets have not been met.
You should identify the problem and implement a revised plan the irons
out any problems or floors in the plan. Then implement the new plan as a
trial and see how it goes, if it still doesnt meet the target, well then you
will need to completely make a new plan that will hopefully help meet the
target.

16. How can the implementation of reward programs assist with

environmental continuous improvement strategies?
It will encourage people to cooperate and encourage them to be
environmentally weary and continually improve themselves.
