What Information Do I Need When I Fill Out

the FAFSA?
You should have the following information to complete the Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA):

Your Social Security number


Your parents Social Security numbers and date of birth unless you are
classified independent
Your drivers license number if you have one
Your Alien Registration Number if you are not a U.S. citizen
Federal tax information or tax returns including IRS W-2 information, for you
(and your spouse, if you are married), and for your parents
Information on untaxed income, such as child support received, interest
income, and veterans non education benefits, for you, and for your parents
Information on cash; savings and checking account balances; investments,
including real estate but not including the home in which you live for you, and
for your parents

If you have not yet filed an income tax return, complete and submit the FAFSA with
estimated tax information using last years tax return or current years w-2s.
If you have no social security number or have a work only social security you
should fill out the TASFA unless financial aid at your college requests some other
form.
If you have a social security number but one or both parents do not , you should
show 000-00-0000 for parent social security number.
