Excalibur

By Brad Harris
In the days of old, there lived a man named Excalibur. Excalibur ruled a
distant land, which always seemed to find itself erupted into a great
war during every generational leaders rule. Surrounding Excaliburs
kingdom was the 5 Great War nations of Green Earth. It was a time of
war, with every leader trying to conquer the other. With Excalibur came
the symbol of the kingdom, a sword, which he forged with his own
hands and thus, he happily, named after him. The sword represented a
quest to never let his kingdom fall into the hands of any of the
surrounding nations. He would personally lead every army against the
5 nations if they were to ever step foot onto his land in hostility.
With no heir to his throne, Excalibur would find solace in knowing that
one day, a worthy heir would make himself or herself known. A great
stone lay just outside of his castle. One that was so thick that Hercules
himself could never crack it or break it. In the last 5 years, Excaliburs
people were being slaughtered as the 5 nations began falling under the
rule of just one person, Calibra. Calibra had a knack of talking other
nation leaders into going to war for her for land territories simply by
going to bed with them. What witch like powers she possesses, is
beyond me.
Excalibur, being a swordsman during his youth, trained his mind and
his body to be strong. He vowed never to be a leader to sit back and
let other people do his dirty work for him. If his men fought, he would
fight with them. A leader should always lead from the front, not from
the rear.
On the evening before the great battle over his land, Excalibur would
be visited by Calibra and offered a night in his bed in exchange for her
victory in the battle ahead. While tempted by her charm, as the other
leaders had already succumbed to, He shook her temperas self off of
him and brought in his guards instead. He had her sent to his dungeon
while he took off into the night.
Arriving at the great stone, Excalibur knew that the other nations
would all converge on his kingdom in the morning and not give any
ounce of leeway towards destroying the last of his kingdom. So
Excalibur would spend all his night hours forging his sword with this
stone. Upon the next days battle, Excalibur would fight hard with his
men to try and drive away the forces of the 5 kingdoms.
For the first time in a battle, people saw Excalibur fight, but without the
famed sword. Moral faltered and the battle for the kingdom was lost.

Eventually Calibra was rescued and felt a sense of pride knowing that
she had conquered the last kingdom in the known world.
When asked for his last words, Excalibur told the onlookers about the
great sword in the stone. That whoever pulled the sword from the
stone would be the rightful heir to the throne of that kingdom and
would be the savior to once again restore balance to the world. The
people laughed, as did Calibra. She signaled to her man and Excalibur
was beheaded in front of her. One of the men in attendance was a man
named Merlin, who traveled out to the stone to see for himself.
Once Merlin saw the Sword in the Stone, he made it a point to find the
kingdoms savior. This is where Merlins quest begins
