MDD1 : CONTEXTUAL FACTORS

MDD Standard
1. Community in which the school is located and/or serves, municipality or
owner and school factors:
Liceo Comercial B-22 is a public high school, located in Salinas,
Talcahuano. This highschool is a techinal school, this means that
specialized its students into de business area. Most of the students
attend to the school only three days of the week, the other two they
spend working at offices. In the school, most of the stidents belong to a
middle to low economic class . Many of them have problems with drugns
and violence because of the context where they live.
1.1.
How These Factors May Impact My Lessons:
I think that the socio economic factor may have an impact over my
lessons. As they are not totally into the English language students will
think that the subject is difficult and worthless. In addition, as a techer it
will be extremely difficult to develop my hole lessons in english and I will
have to turn into spenish most of the times because students may not
understand what the teacher might be saying.
2. Student Characteristics and Their Instructional Implications: Below,
describe how two student characteristics you observed in your student
(e.g., gender, race/ethnicity, interests, student skill levels) might impact
the way you instruct those students. For example, your planning,
motivation, management, or assessment. For each example of the
student characteristic, give a specific instructional implication that will
influence how you plan and implement your instruction.
2.1 Description of First Characteristic of Student(s) in this Class:
Catalina is a 17 year old student. She is in 11 year of high school. Her level of
english is low below basic level. Catalinas grades are almost making her failing
the course. Her attitude class depends a lot on her mood. She is a strong girls
and almost a leader between her classmates. She is very influent between
them.
2.1.1 How This Characteristic Will Impact my Lesson:
As she is taken as a leader in the class, as a teacher I should create a good
relation with her in order to make all the other students to follow her over the
class.
2.2 Description of Second Characteristic of Students in this Class.

Ivonne is in the same class of Catalina, she is also 17 years old, she is a hardworking student and always pays attention in class. she is one of a few students
that follow the hole class and demonstrate interest on the subject.
2.2.1 How This Characteristic Will Impact my Lesson:
As she is always working in class is good to take her as a role model between
her classmates, in order to motivate the students in the classroom
3. Physical Aspects of the Classroom and Their Instructional Implications:
Below, describe how two physical aspects of the classroom you
observed (e.g., posters, room arrangement, technology) might impact the
way you instruct students, for example, planning, motivation,
management, or assessment. For each example, give a specific
instructional implication that will influence how you plan and implement
your instruction.
3.1 Description of First Physical Aspect:
Few students for a big class: The class counts with 15 students but the size of
the class is made for 30 students, leaving plenty of empty space in the class
3.1.1 How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson:
This will help me to plan and develop my lesson, the fact that there is big empty
spaces, helps me to develop interactive activities where I can change the sitting
arrangement of the class .
3.2 Description of Second Physical Aspect:
Each class count with a Data player.
3.2.1How This Aspect Will Impact My Lesson:
This aspect will help me to create interactive activities where I can apply TICs
and also to create attractive material for students.
