A Proposal to Research on

waste to form an Art

Introduction :It is rightly said that, one persons trash is another persons
treasure. There seems to be no end to what kind of art you can create with the most
cost-effective medium available.
We all know that youre supposed to reduce, reuse and recycle. But artists practice
the art of upcycling, or turning everyday trash into creative treasures. We can
transform these into new creations, which are stylish and diverse.

Statement of Problem :Urban India generates 188,500 tonnes per day (TPD) of waste at an average
rate of 0.5 kg of waste per person per day.
The increasing waste generation has a link to the increasing GDP. As per
capita income increases the spending power increases that results in
increased waste generation.
Urban India produces 68 million tons of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) per
year, which is a 50% increase in waste generation since 2001.
At this rate, urban India will generate 160.5 million tons per year by 2041!

Objectives :I propose to review the available literature about using waste to form
an art. It might be a great idea to use the waste.
Recycling old junk not only benefits the environment, it breathes new life into old
objects that were once destined for the landfill. It removes these items from the
recycling loop and turns an item headed for the trash into a useful object or an
artistic decorative piece.

Plan of Action :-

To form an art from the waste we can collect the waste from the
individual houses or can collect from local areas.
These works can incorporate reclaimed objects, such as old
books, cardboard, toilet rolls, bottle caps, cans, plastic spoons, straws, plastic cups,
tyres and a plethora of junk yard treasures.
We can organize the exhibitions to promote the art that made by waste. We can
make lot of money by utilize these waste.
Such events can give us an idea about the nature of waste in our society and also
gets us to think about ordinary objects in a new and different way.

Conclusion :I combined my passion for the environment and art and created a
few items, like a working model of a house with a solar panel connected to a fan
made with CDs, flowers from plastic bottles and hand puppets from toilet rolls. I even
had the innovative idea of growing plants in soda bottles and yogurt plastic cups.
Once people knows about these things, they will not throw their waste material that
can give the beautiful art, sculpture etc.
