Interprets and implements school policies on attendance and required education. Confer with students
and parents on daily absences. Determines excused, unexcused, medical absences and truancy, which
includes deciding if good cause exists to excuse absences and tardiness. Determines whether to
excuse prearranged absences and counsels students and their families on the consequences of such
absences. Investigates attendance problems and identifies the excessively absent student, including
habitual or chronic truants in compliance with the school attendance code. Looks for patterns in
absences and/or tardiness. As the Senior Committee Chairperson, confer with students, parents, and
staff to discover underlying causes of excessive absences and/or tardiness; create intervention plans
to correct excessive absences and/or tardiness and monitors compliance with the same.

Plan and lead daily academic and enrichment activities for students attending Before and After Care
Programs. Develop a nurturing, safe, respectful, multicultural learning environment. Support students
to reach specific literacy benchmarks. Facilitate after-school homework assistance, vocabulary building
and reading comprehension activities that build upon the school day learning objectives. Coordinate
and support volunteers in classroom Maintain accurate youth files and records, i.e. attendance,
student behavior, and other evaluation forms to track student progress. Other duties as assigned by
supervisor.
