Prompt: Identify/Clarify a Focus or Goal Topic (Essential Element, See SelfAssessment Form)
Meeting Diverse Needs

Strategic Prompt: Why is this topic/focus area important?

As I enter my new placement I have come to notice that I have a handful of English
language learners in my classes. I have not had that much experience working
with ELL students so I think it would be a good goal for me to focus on meeting the
diverse needs that they may have. Not only would I focus on ELL students but also
along with the other students in my class or students with IEPs or a 504 plan.
Objective:

Use a variety of teaching practices to meet the different

learning styles of each student in my classroom.

Specific, Rigorous, Results-Focused Prompt: What skills, knowledge, or practice

will I acquire or develop through achieving this goal?
I will improve my lessons/ objectives so my students will have a better
understanding of whats expected and on the lessons it self. I will become better at
assessing each students needs so I can enhance each students learning
experiences, and improve future instruction.
Realistic, Timed Prompt: When will I achieve this goal?
After the first lesson I teach I will be able to assess the students project itself, but
also with a reflective rubric to see gather feedback on the lesson. I will then use
that feedback to adjust future lessons to meet the need of different students.
Action-Oriented, Tracked Prompt: How will I demonstrate progress toward this
goal?
I will collect evidence from the students rubric that will have reflective questions
not only on the project but also my teaching throughout the project. By collecting
data and feedback from the rubrics I will be able to adjust my lesson from there,
after we finish a project. Different ways I can adjust my lessons would be using a
variety of technology, more hands on demonstrations, and providing and ample
amount of one on one help during class time.
Measured Prompt: How will I know the goal has been achieved?
I will know this goal is achieved when students are successfully on track with
meeting the lesson objectives and producing work that displays those examples.
