Does the Different kind of sand effect the structure of a sand

castle against the Rain.

SCIENCE FAIR QUESTION

If I use Beach sand, Kinetic sand, and yard sand (Dirt) to build
sand castles to stand up against the rain, I predict that Kinetic
sand will stand strongest. I believe this because Kinetic sand is
a oobleck, It can become a solid and a liquid. Therefore it can
absorb the rainfall and become a stronger structure.

HYPOTHESIS

This experiment can help others determine which material is

better suited to create a sturdy structure.

RATIONAL

In this Experiment I use different sands to make sand castles

and see how they stand against rain (Watering pale or
Strainer).I Measure the castles (in height by cm) before I pour
water on them. I use 250ml of water on the castles and
measure them in height after the watering. I compare my data
at the end to see which one stood strongest.

ABSTRACT

* 3 Sands: Beach, yard, kinetic sand (about 250ml each)

*Shovel
*3 Buckets 250cm (or 250ml cups)
*Tape Measurer
*Watering Pail and/or Strainer
*Small flag
*3 8x8 Pans

MATERIALS

1. get out your beach sands 2. get your other materials

shovel, buckets 250ml, ruler, Watering pail/strainer, Small
flag,8x8 pans 3. fill your buckets with sand 4. make the
buckets of sand into sand castles and measure them in cm
height. place a small flag at the top of the castle. Then take
250ml of water and pour it through the strainer over the
castle. Measure the castles again in cm height and compare
your data to which one was strongest (which one weathered
the least.)

From my experiment and the graph, the kinetic sand stood the
strongest against the rain, the dirt was 2nd and the beach was
last. The kinetic lost 0cm. The dirt lost 2cm. And the beach lost
7cm.

DATA ANALYSIS

In this experiment I used kinetic sand, yard sand (Dirt), and

beach sand to build sand castles to withstand the rain. To see
which sand is strongest for sand castles.
Kinetic sand stood strongest
Yard sand was the 2nd strongest
And Beach sand was Melted Down

My hypothesis was correct.
