Subject: Public Service Announcement (PSA) Presentation: Importance of Early Education
Dear English 1301 members,
Over the years, with 69% of 4-year olds, and 50% of 3 year-olds enrolled in early education
programs, America has slowly fallen behind in the education it provides for our children, just
like it has had a set back in the culture of enrolling our children in early education programs.
Over the past month, I had the privilege to further analyze and investigate such problems and the
cause of them, as I have involved myself in this particular topic. As I described in my community
problem report, early education is the stage where children acquire the most fundamental
knowledge of their lives since it is where they develop the basic skills for survival such as
communication and language, socio-interactive skills, and where children start further
developing physically through play. The importance of this stage has been numerously repeated
and reassured by experts on the topic and by those who are directly involved in the teaching of it.
In the making of my Public Service Announcement presentation, I had the opportunity to go film
the children of the pre-k and childcare facility at ABC 123 Christian Learning Center, under the
direction of Mrs. Nancy Vogel, in childcare since 1971, and her daughter Kimberly Vogel, in
childcare since 1993. They decided to start they daycare in 2006 based on their beliefs that this
specific stage, ever since the child is born up until age 5, is the most important stage of an
individuals development. As I learned through extensive research and personal conversations
with the Vogels, the environment in which children are exposed to during this stage is a major
contributor to the childs personality and success later in life. Many children are exposed to
hostile environments in and outside of school, but for people involved in childcare and who are
truly aware of the importance of it, their focus is to create a stimulant, enriched environment that
targets each individual needs, where children can have the opportunity to express themselves in
order to develop the mind, the heart and the soul.
A good quality early education, and an effective reception to all the factors involved is a key for
an individuals success later in life. In contrast, a failure to obtain a quality education that targets
the childs needs, or failure from the child to properly soak the knowledge offered at this stage
can, and most likely, result in implications in the following learning stages, later in life, and in
his/her development as a person itself. There is a great debate over the importance of early
education, and a much greater debate on the importance on the quality of such, yet, I stand with
the numerous people supporting the fact that early education has a profound positive impact on
an individuals development, not only because of the numerous reports, articles and chapters that
Ive read, but because of the personal experience Ive had with children who are currently
enrolled in early education programs.
I am extremely glad to have had this experience where I truly went deep into the details of
childrens education, and to have become aware of the importance of it. Many people might

disagree, many people might find it useless and a waste of money, but in my eyes, a quality child
education is the base of an individuals personality traits, and his/her success. It is truly our duty
to provide our children with the opportunity of a quality education to allow them to realize their
dreams. Investing in our childs education is the first step to invest in our future, and in the future
generations.
Sincerely,
Luisa Gonzalez.
