Designed and led workshops for groups of parents and teachers with the aim of developing
'whole' children who are supported emotionally, mentally, physically, socially, and spiritually.
Organized individual and group activities that involve the participants including games, roleplaying, free-writing, and mind-mapping.
Created presentations, learning materials, and handouts to support in-class activities.

Worked within a team of teachers to develop and teach a supplementary curriculum twice a week
for elementary students (grades 2-7) in struggling governmental schools.
Recruited and trained teachers to teach the curriculum on a weekly basis at 3 governmental
schools.
Campaigned successfully to raise money needed to renovate 3 governmental schools and provide
the necessary school supplies for one academic year.

Taught, alongside two other teachers, intensive English to freshman students who graduated
predominantly from Arabic, French, and German school systems.
Created and adapted materials to engage the students and promote critical, analytical and creative
thinking skills.

including listening comprehension, note-taking, and oral presentations.

Designed weekly lesson plans based on Virginia State Standards to suit the curriculum for grades 9,
10 & 11.
Taught EFL to 7 classes in grades 9, 10 & 11 ranging from once to five times a week depending
on their level.
Prepared two 11th grade classes to sit for their SATs by conducting weekly test preparation
sessions which included test-taking strategies as well going over practice tests.
Tutored 10th grade students during and after school in reading strategies such as making
predictions, paraphrasing texts and taking notes.

VOLUNTEER WORK
Co-founded and led a homeschooling co-op for parents and children who were dissatisfied with
current schools or unable to pay the rising tuitions.
Co-founded a children's volunteer group, 'Kids build their community' comprised of over 30 families
who take part in community building activities on a monthly basis.
An active member of the NGO, 'Friends of the people' which provides year-long meals to families in
poverty-stricken areas in Cairo.
